SHIMLA -24 January, 2026-In a vibrant display of National unity, the Foundation Days of Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya and Manipur were celebrated today during a special commemorative program held at Lok Bhavan here today
The event, held under the aegis of the "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat" initiative, highlighted the rich cultural tapestry and shared heritage of the four states.
The ceremony was graced by the Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Lady Governor, Smt. Janaki Shukla. Sh. Dharmendra Bhardwaj, Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council was a special guest on the occasion representing the cultural interests of his home state.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasized that celebrating diverse statehood milestones within Himachal Pradesh fosters a deep sense of mutual harmony, love and brotherhood. He noted that these programs, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, serve as vital platforms for cultural exchange, bringing citizens closer by sharing traditions and values that are integral to the nation’s collective development.
"These celebrations symbolize our cooperation and reinforce the spirit of a unified India," the Governor remarked, while extending his warmest greetings to the residents of the above States living in Himachal Pradesh.
The event featured a series of symbolic exchanges. Dharmendra Bhardwaj honoured the Governor and Lady Governor on behalf of the State Government of Uttar Pradesh.
The Governor also honored the visiting digmitaries with traditional Himachali caps and shawls.
The cultural diversity of the states was brought to life through a short documentary showcasing their unique heritage, followed by a live performance by artists from Pooja Kala Manch.
Also in present were Additional Director General of Police Gyaneshwar Singh and Deputy Inspector General of Police Anjum Ara, alongside other prominent dignitaries.
