SHIMLA, 19.01.26-Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla while chairing a review meeting regarding Tuberculosis Elimination at Rampur in Shimla today said that it was a matter of concern that Himachal Pradesh didn’t achieved the desired target of TB free Himachal till 2024. “We should introspect the reason and causes for the same and it requires concerted efforts to make Himachal TB free by this year" he remarked.
Calling upon social organizations, institutions and individuals to come forward as Nikshay Mitras, the Governor said that with collective efforts, Himachal Pradesh would strive to become a TB-free state by 2026.
He emphasized that Nikshay Mitras who had adopted TB patients must ensure uninterrupted support and adherence to treatment for the entire six-month duration.
The Governor said that the standard treatment period for TB is six months and patients who complete the full course of treatment and are medically cleared are declared TB Champions. The treatment of such patients must now be ensured with utmost sincerity.
He informed that he had personally adopted 59 TB patients from Nirmand block, while six patients from Ani block had been adopted by his Secretary at Raj Bhavan.
On the occasion, the Governor distributed nutrition kits to TB patients from Ani and Nirmand blocks.
Earlier, WHO Technical Consultant for Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Nishant Soni, presented a detailed overview of the TB situation in the state through a PowerPoint presentation.
TB Champions also shared their experiences during the meeting.
