₹150 Crore Projects Launched to Support Working Women
Chandigarh, November 19:Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is consistently striving for the welfare and empowerment of women across the state. She said that significant measures are being taken to provide safe and convenient accommodation facilities for working women.
Sharing this information, Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the Punjab Government is constructing five Working Women Hostels at a total cost of ₹150 crore. These hostels will be established in Mohali, Amritsar, and Jalandhar. She informed that three hostels will be constructed in Mohali, while Amritsar and Jalandhar will have one hostel each.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said that this project marks a major step toward offering safe, affordable, and modern residential options for women, which will directly benefit thousands of working women in Punjab.
She further added that these hostels will not be limited to accommodation alone; they will also include robust security arrangements along with essential and modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment for women.
The Minister mentioned that, apart from this, the Punjab Government is effectively implementing several other schemes and programmes aimed at empowering women through education, employment, and enhanced social participation.
Dr. Baljit Kaur directed the concerned officials to ensure that the construction of these Working Women Hostels is completed swiftly and in accordance with high-quality standards so that the facilities can be made available to women at the earliest.

350TH MARTYRDOM ANNIVERSARY OF SRI GURU TEGH BAHADUR JI: NAGAR KIRTAN STARTED FROM SRINAGAR RECEIVES WARM RECEPTION FROM SANGAT AND LOCAL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION
Jammu/Chandigarh, November 19:The Nagar Kirtan that commenced from Gurdwara Patshahi Chhevin in Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) to mark the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, covered nearly 250 kilometres to reach its first halt at Jammu. Devotees and local district administrations welcomed the religious procession with deep reverence at several points along the route.
In district Kulgam, the Sangat of Palpura, a village with a sizeable Sikh population and senior officials including SSP Traffic Kashmir Province Ravinder Pal Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Sandeep Singh Bali, SDM Dooru Pravez Rahim and Tehsildar Qazigund Sajjad Ahmed in offering a heartfelt reception. Devotees presented beautifully embroidered rumalas as homage, while tea and fruit langar was arranged for the accompanying Sangat. Later, another langar was organised by the Sangat at Qazigund in district Anantnag.
Similarly, the district administration of Ramban welcomed the Nagar Kirtan at Chandarpur where tea and pakora langar was prepared for devotees. Deputy Commissioner Alyaz Khan, SSP Traffic Adil Hameed, Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Charak, ACS Shaukat Mattoo, Additional SP Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and Tehsildar Deep Kumar were present on the occasion. The District Gurdwara Management Committee Ramban also extended a warm welcome to the Nagar Kirtan.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration ensured robust arrangements for the Nagar Kirtan including streamlined traffic management along with deployment of fire services, ambulances and medical staff.
The Nagar Kirtan, which began from Srinagar, will cover a total span of 544 kilometres before reaching Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22. In its next phase, the procession will depart from Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar (Jammu) and arrive in Pathankot on November 20 followed by a halt in Hoshiarpur on 21 November.

Training Imparts to Students for Mock Session to be held in Punjab Vidhan Sabha on 26 Nov, Says Speaker
Students feel very delighted and excited after participation in rehearsal for Mock Session
Chandigarh, 19 November 2025:Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan informed that we are going to organise a Mock session of Punjab Legislative Assembly on Constitution Day i.e 26 November 2025. In this context, students from 117 constituencies of Punjab have come to the Punjab Legislative Assembly for rehearsal of mock session and our concerned staff imparted training to them so that they can debate and raise their constituency issues in this House. This is a first of its kind initiative to create interest in politics among the students and may become steward leaders in their future life. In this way, students will learn practical knowledge of the constitution and understand legislative procedures in a better way.
Sandhwan highlighted that only students of Government schools studying in class 11 and 12 can participate in this mock session. These students have come from 117 constituencies and will represent their MLAs/ Ministers vis-e-vis they will play the same role of their MLAs and Ministers here. He further elaborated that if someone has come from the CM constituency, then he will play the role of CM here and if someone has come from the Speaker’s constituency, then he will play the role of Speaker.
Furthermore, the Speaker said that training has been imparted to the students how to ask questions during the mock session. Secretary Punjab Vidhan Sabha Ram Lok Khatana personally guided the students about how to ask questions during the mock session and sort out their doubts/queries.
The students were accompanied by their teachers and coordinators from each district. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Punjab Government and Speaker. Students said this is a unique and wonderful initiative of Punjab Government and felt as if their dreams came true. Some students came for the first time in Chandigarh due to this initiative only. Teachers and Coordinators who came from each district appreciated this decision of Punjab Government.
Mohammad Jamil Ur Rahman MLA, Manjit Singh Bilaspur MLA, Kulwant Singh Sidhu MLA, Balkar Sidhu MLA and Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh MLA were also present during the rehearsal of the mock session.
Student Harkamaldeep Singh of Ghnori Kalan School of Eminence Dhuri Sangrur will represent CM, Jagmander Singh of School of Eminence, kotkapura will represent Speaker and Harpreet Singh of Government Adarsh Senior Secondary School Kotdhandal Kadian will represent LoP in this mock session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
