Chandigarh, 3 November: The Victory Against Drug Abuse (VADA) Club of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised a thought-provoking nukkad natak on HIV/AIDS awareness. Supported by the Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society, the initiative aimed to sensitise students and the community about HIV/AIDS, its prevention, and the need to eliminate social stigma surrounding the disease.

Through compelling storytelling, powerful dialogues, and expressive performances, the natak vividly depicted the causes and modes of transmission of HIV/AIDS, while debunking myths and misconceptions that perpetuate fear and discrimination. Emphasis was laid on the importance of awareness, timely testing, and early diagnosis, highlighting that with proper medical treatment and emotional support, individuals living with HIV can lead healthy, fulfilling lives. The performance also drew attention to various government initiatives such as free testing and counseling centers and campaigns promoting safe and responsible behavior. Blending humor with poignant dramatisation of real-life situations, the performers succeeded in capturing the audience’s attention and evoking empathy, thereby fostering a sense of inclusion and responsibility among viewers.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma commended the performers and organisers for creatively addressing such a vital issue. She also expressed gratitude to the Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society for their continued commitment to eradicating stigma and misinformation through awareness-based initiatives.
