Chandigarh, September 27, 2025: The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration, organized a series of health and nutrition activities across the city, focusing on promoting healthy practices among children and beneficiaries. Key initiatives included the Demonstration of the Beneficiary Module and a Drive for ABHA ID registration at the Industrial Area, aimed at facilitating access to health services and digital health records.

A community Awareness Programme on Promoting Healthy Food Practices among Children was conducted at Dhanas, while a Slogan Writing Competition on Healthy Eating Habits was held at Ramdarbar to engage children and the community in adopting nutritious lifestyles.

Several minor but impactful activities were also carried out across Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), including the promotion of yoga at home, use of millets for health, and a dedicated Slogan Writing Competition on Millets. Health and nutrition lectures were conducted covering topics such as immunization, anemia, overall nutrition, preparation for birth, prevention of diarrhea, oral hygiene, food fortification, and micronutrients. Activities also included handwashing demonstrations, identification and management of SAM (Severe Acute Malnutrition) children, growth monitoring, and preparation of complementary feeding recipes using locally available ingredients.

Home visits were conducted in all 450 AWCs to monitor SAM/MAM children, provide guidance to parents, and ensure appropriate nutrition and care.

These initiatives demonstrate the Chandigarh Administration’s continued commitment to improving child health, nutrition, and hygiene practices, empowering communities to adopt healthier lifestyles and ensuring better care for children at the grassroots level.
