Chandigarh, 18th September,2025.Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh Sh Gulab Chand Kataria handed over appointment letters to 82 newly appointed teachers today at a solemn ceremony organized by the Chandigarh Education Department. This occasion was a proud moment not only for the selected teachers and their families, but also for the entire education sector.
In his address, Sh.Kataria said that a teacher is not just a person doing a job, but an architect of society and a builder of the nation. Teachers sow seeds in the minds and hearts of children that will later germinate into knowledge, values, discipline, and patriotism. He said that the influence of a good teacher lasts for generations, and that is why the Guru has always been given the highest place.
Inspiring teachers, he said that instead of settling for a government job as an achievement, they should consider it a means to serve society and advance the country. Punctuality, dedication to work, transparency, and honesty are values that teachers can inculcate in their students through their conduct. The Administrator expressed confidence that if teachers adhere to these values, the results of government schools will certainly be better than those of private schools.
The Governor, not limiting education to curriculum alone, said that the true meaning of teaching is to inspire students towards holistic development. He said that teachers develop creativity, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility in students. When students are enriched with these values, they not only become successful citizens but also become a source of inspiration for society and the country.
Referring to the Prime Minister's pledge to make India a developed nation by 2047, he said that teachers play a key role in achieving this goal. Today's students will become tomorrow's scientists, administrators, athletes, entrepreneurs, and leaders. If teachers are guided effectively, the future India will surely be strong, capable, and cultured.
The Governor also stated that the quality of education will only improve when teachers pursue a path of continuous self-development. He urged the newly appointed teachers to regularly update themselves through training, research, and new educational experiments. This will not only benefit their students but will also set an example for the Chandigarh Education Department nationwide.
It was also informed at the ceremony that currently, 111 schools are operating under the Chandigarh Education Department, enrolling approximately 150,000 students. The appointment of the newly appointed teachers will inject new energy into these schools and strengthen the quality of education.
The Governor congratulated the newly appointed teachers and their families, stating that this moment is not merely the receipt of an appointment letter, but also the beginning of a new responsibility and a new chapter. He urged all teachers to devote themselves wholeheartedly to shaping the lives of students and to set an example of excellence in society through their conduct and work.
