Chandigarh-7 September -National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh (Deemed to be University under Distinct Category, Ministry of Education, Government of India) had its 58th Annual Day Function on 7 September, 2025. The function started by observing a two minutes silence to express grief and concern over the alarming flood stricken situation of the northern India states and by reaffirming institute’s solidarity for the affected fellow citizens.
The Annual Day function was graced by Prof. Hiralal Murlidhar Suryawanshi, Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Suyawanshi emphasized the importance of students’ and learners’ holistic development through inter-disciplinary activities. He motivated students and learners to come out of their comfort zones and outshine in various educational and extra–curricular experiences of academic journey. He congratulated NITTTR, Chandigarh for its commitment towards continuous improvement, advancing research and excellence in technical education by training the master trainers.
Dr. Satbir Singh Kadian, Engineer-in-Chief, Irrigation & Water Resources Department, Government of Haryana was the Guest of Honour. He highlighted the demographic challenge of providing jobs to a big populatiorecognizedced by the nation and called upon the technical institutes to provide a solution to this by imparting practical knowledge to the learners. He also urged them to come forward with innovative solutions to the problems such as flooding being faced by the nation today. Meritorious post graduate students of the institute and outstanding polytechnics and engineering colleges from pan India were awarded during the function for their exemplary dedication, perseverance and excellence. The staff members of the institute were also awarded recognizing their special contributions, commitment and dedication.
Prof. (Dr.) Bhola Ram Gurjar; Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh presented the Institute Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the institute marking a significant milestone in its journey towards excellence in the education and training of technical teachers and up-skilling of the technical workforce. The institute also announced its upcoming B.Tech. program for working professionals.
On the occasion of the Institute’s Annual Day Function, a two day National Conclave on “Opportunities and Challenges in Polytechnic Education under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020” was also inaugurated. The participants of the conclave, which include 60 administrators, principals and faculty of polytechnic colleges from all over the country, will deliberate on reshaping the polytechnic education system in light of the NEP 2020.
