Sangrur, July 6-National Convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday congratulated the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for heralding an era of education revolution in the state thereby bagging top rank in National Achievement Survey (NAS) conducted by Government of India (GoI).
Addressing the gathering during a function to mark Punjab’s accomplishment in the National Achievements Survey, Arvind Kejriwal said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him to be a part of this historic day in the education sector of Punjab. He said that due to efforts of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state has delivered an outstanding performance in the National Achievement Survey 2024 (NAS). Arvind Kejriwal said that it is a matter of immense pride for Punjabis that this state has secured a leading position across the country.
Arvind Kejriwal said that it is a real revolution as the teachers who were on the top of Overhead Reservoirs during the previous regimes are today interacting with the Chief Minister to achieve such ranks. He said that the state government has provided congenial atmosphere and the teachers have duly utilized it to excel in every sphere so that the students can be immensely benefited from it. Arvind Kejriwal said that the previous governments had exploited the government teachers due to which studies were adversely affected but things have seen a paradigm shift now.
Arvind Kejriwal said that NAS is a big achievement but it is not the ultimate goal of his government which intends to ensure the well being of every person. He said that the certificate of the people that the state government has brought education revolution in the state and other fields is the real acknowledgement for him. Likewise, Arvind Kejriwal said that eliminating drugs, imparting quality education to youth and ensuring job/ business for them are the three major thrust areas of the state government.
Arvind Kejriwal said that the state government has already transformed Yudh Nasehayn Virudh into a mass movement. He said that the teachers should take responsibility that the students are weaned away from menace of drugs adding that the state government is doing commendable work to wipe out the scourge of drugs and this war against drugs finds no parallel across the country. Arvind Kejriwal said that people are today praising the Chief Minister because exemplary work is being done by the state government.
Arvind Kejriwal said that the properties constructed from the drug money have been razed to dust by the bulldozers. He said that those who had ruined the future of generations are now getting the punishment for their sins and these leaders who had patronized the drug trade are being put behind bars. Arvind Kejriwal said that the state government is committed for this task to give succor to the common man and every effort will be made for this.
Arvind Kejriwal said that under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann we are moving ahead toward fulfilling the guarantees we made to the people of Punjab adding that We didn’t just build schools—we built futures. Extending special thanks to the teachers, principals, and staff of the education department, he said that their hard work, dedication, and commitment have made this achievement possible. Arvind Kejriwal said that Punjab’s achievement in NAS-2024 will be recorded in the annals of history adding that the most significant aspect is that this survey was conducted by the Government of India—not by Punjab.
Arvind Kejriwal said that this nationwide survey was conducted by NCERT in collaboration with states and Union Territories in December 2024, involving thousands of students from across India adding that the state government has made significant efforts to strengthen the infrastructure of government schools, recruit more teachers, and provide maximum support to educational institutions. He said that this year, 845 students from government schools qualified for NEET and 265 students from government schools cleared the JEE Mains exam. Arvind Kejriwal said that to provide world-class education, teachers and principals of Punjab are being trained in Finland, Ahmedabad, and other reputed institutions.
Arvind Kejriwal further said that the state government is establishing Schools of Eminence to ensure high-quality education for our children. He said that the state government led by the Chief Minister will continue its effort to ensure that the students get quality education in the government schools. Arvind Kejriwal said that the business blasters scheme is moving ahead towards achieving resounding success and the day is not far when the students of the government schools will be immensely benefited from it.

Tarn Taran, July 6-Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and National Convener of AAP Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday mourned the sad and untimely death of MLA Tarn Taran Dr Kashmir Singh Sohal and termed it as a colossal loss for the party and the state.
Addressing the gathering during the bhog and antim ardas of deceased MLA Dr Kashmir Singh Sohal, national Convener of AAP described him as a prominent social worker who was always committed for the service of common man. He said that though late Dr. Sohal was suffering from a fatal disease, he continuously served the masses with missionary zeal due to which he was very popular amongst the masses. Arvind Kejriwal said that he was a loyal foot soldier of the party, who was committed to its ideology of serving the masses adding that the party was with the family of the deceased leader in this hour of crisis.
Arvind Kejriwal said that in the death of Dr. Sohal the party has lost a balanced and an experienced leader, who believed in clean and value based politics. He described Dr. Sohal as a fine human being, an upright politician, a committed social worker besides a disciplined soldier of his party who always played a pivotal role in ensuring overall development of the state especially the border area and the welfare of its people. Arvind Kejriwal said that the outstanding services rendered by Dr. Sohal as a Doctor and MLA for the progress and prosperity of the state will be ever remembered by one and all.
In his address the Chief Minister, accompanied by senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, said that the late MLA was not a person but an institution adding that he devoted his entire life to the service of weaker sections of the society. He said that the sad demise of Dr Sohal was one of the most tragic incidents of his life as the MLA was very close to him. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the untimely death of the MLA was an irreparable loss for the party which had lost its energetic leader who was very popular amongst the general masses.
The Chief Minister said that the immense popularity of Dr Sohal can be well gauged from the presence of every section of society on his bhog and antim ardas. He said that late Dr. Sohal was committed to the development of the entire region adding that now it was his personal duty to fulfill all the dreams of the departed leader. Reiterating the commitment of the state government to ensure all round development of Tarn Taran assembly segment, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he was duty bound to accomplish the works initiated by late Dr. Sohal.
The Chief Minister said that though we console someone by relating this tragedy to the 'Order of the Almighty' but in reality it was extremely painful to bear this pain and distress. He said in the death of late Dr. Sohal, a void has been created which was difficult to be filled adding that the late MLA was a popular mass leader, who believed in clean and value based politics. Expressing heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, Bhagwant Singh Mann prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family members to bear this huge loss in this hour of crisis.

Sangrur, July 6:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday vowed to further make concerted efforts in the form of pro-people and development oriented policies for emerging Punjab as a frontrunner state in every sphere of life.
Addressing the gathering during a function to mark Punjab’s accomplishment in National Achievements Survey, the Chief Minister said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government Punjab is today at number one in this survey whereas it was on 29th rank in 2017. He said that the teachers are the nation builders and they had played an important role in making Punjab number one. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that due to the concerted efforts of the state government, Punjab is today excelling in every sphere whether it is education or development.
Urging the teachers to make the students abreast of the rich cultural heritage of the state, the Chief Minister said that it was imperative for the overall personality development of the students. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is also the need of hour to ensure that the students stay connected with their roots and excel in life. He said that the state government is laying major thrust on the skill development amongst the students to make them capable of living a life with dignity and pride.
The Chief Minister said that education, health and power had acquired a centre stage in the political agenda of the parties due to the concerted efforts of AAP and its national convener Arvind Kejriwal. He said that prior to this none of the political parties had ever bothered about these core sectors that have been most important for a common man. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that every action of the state government is aimed at the well being of the common man adding that no stone should be left unturned for this noble cause.
The Chief Minister said that the previous governments never paid heed towards imparting quality education to the students. He said that the sons and daughters of big leaders used to study in convent schools at hills due to which the government schools were never their thrust areas. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that instead of imparting education, the government schools were merely mid day meal centres during the previous regimes.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is making tireless efforts to transform the destiny of the students by imparting quality education to them at the school level. He said that the state government had embarked on an education revolution in the state which has transformed the lives of students by bridging socio-economic gaps. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is according top priority to the education sector as nothing is more important than the well being of the students.
The Chief Minister exuded confidence that the education sector in Punjab is now undergoing a significant transformation which will yield excellent results for government schools, further bolstering the endeavors of the government. He said that the Punjab government is transforming the infrastructure in the government schools and Punjab will surely emerge as a role model across the country. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that his government is focusing on fact to ensure that the services of teachers are duly utilized only for the purpose of education rather than any other work.
The Chief Minister said that in a paradigm shift Parent Teacher Meetings (PTMs) were organized in the government schools adding that this was a regular practice earlier in private schools but was missing in government schools. He said that this is one of the best practices of education being adopted in these schools for the well-being of the students as Parents and teachers are able to communicate for the betterment of students. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has embarked on an era of education revolution in Punjab and no stone is being left unturned for giving boost to it.
The Chief Minister expressed pride in the fact that over 54,000 jobs have been provided to the youth, purely on the basis of merit, without corruption or nepotism. He said this has made youth active participants in the socio-economic development of Punjab. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that every decision is being taken by the state government for the well being of the people and progress of the state.
Earlier in his address, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said that quality education was a dream for the government schools as the education mafia had prevailed in the country. He said that education had taken a backseat during the previous regimes as they encouraged study in the privately owned schools which were managed by the bureaucrats and politicians. Manish Sisodia said that today Punjab has done wonders by achieving this herculean target adding that Punjab’s schools are scripting a new success story.
Manish Sisodia said that today the future of 24 lakh students of government schools is in the safe hands and the education revolution has been embarked in the state. He said that this has been made possible as the teachers, Principals and other staff have worked hard in consonance with the policies of the state government. Manish Sisodia said that it is a great achievement for which every stakeholder deserves kudos adding that this is the beginning as Punjab is scaling new heights in the education sector.

DAY 127 OF YUDH NASHIAN VIRUDH: 143 DRUG SMUGGLERS HELD WITH 3.5KG HEROIN, 1.5KG OPIUM
— AS PART OF ‘DE-ADDICTION’, PUNJAB POLICE CONVINCE 57 PERSONS TO UNDERGO DE-ADDICTION TREATMENT
CHANDIGARH, July 6:With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state completed 127 days, Punjab Police on Sunday arrested 143 drug smugglers and recovered 3.5 kg heroin, 1.5 kg opium and Rs 54,750 drug money from their possession. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 20,784 in just 127 days.
The operation was conducted on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav simultaneously in all 28 Police districts of the state.
Notably, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has asked the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police to make Punjab drug free state. The Punjab government has also constituted a 5-member Cabinet Sub Committee led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema to monitor the war against drugs.
Divulging details, Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla informed that over 180 Police teams, comprising over 1200 police personnel, under the supervision of 79 gazetted officers have conducted raids at as many as 411 locations across the state leading to the registration of 105 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. Police teams have also checked as many as 442 suspicious persons during the day-long operation, he added.
The Special DGP said that with the state government has enforced a three-pronged strategy— Enforcement, Deaddiction and Prevention (EDP)— to eradicate drugs from the state, the Punjab Police as part of ‘De-addiction’ has convinced 57 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
