CHANDIGARH, 28.05.25-The much-awaited Gladius 4.0, the annual interdepartmental sports fest of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, commenced with great fervor on May 26, 2025, and will continue until June 1, 2025, bringing together residents and faculty in a vibrant celebration of athletic spirit and institutional unity
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, who emphasized the importance of physical fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle amidst the demanding schedules of resident doctors. In his address, Dr. Lal encouraged participants to make physical activity a routine part of their lives and highlighted the value of such events in promoting team spirit and mental well-being.
The opening ceremony was marked by a spirited badminton match between Dr. Lal and Dr. Sandeep Bansal, the institute’s Sports Incharge, setting the tone for a week of healthy competition and camaraderie.
The event saw the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Ratho, Dean of PGIMER, along with several faculty members and former ARD (Association of Resident Doctors) Presidents Dr. Rahul Chakraborty and Dr. Naveen, who came together to support and celebrate the initiative.
The fest includes a variety of sports events such as futsal, volleyball, basketball, gully cricket, carrom, chess, table tennis, badminton, and the ever-popular tug of war, ensuring wide participation and engagement across departments.
