MAHENDERGARH, 26.05.25-The Department of Microbiology at Central University of Haryana (CUH) inaugurated a 10 days GIAN (Global Initiative of Academic Networks) course on “Microbial Biofilms in food processing, health and disease” today. This GIAN course sponsored by Ministry of Education is a significant milestone for the university’s academic engagement at the global level. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor congratulated the department of microbiology for conducting the course and emphasized on the role of conducting these courses at CUH for the benefits of the students
The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Vice Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar along with other dignitaries. The inaugural session witnessed the gracious presence of faculty members, invited experts, and participants from various academic disciplines. Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Dean, School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences welcomed the dignitaries, invited speakers and participants from different universities
Dr. Gunjan Goel, Course Coordinator highlighted the importance of GIAN courses at Central University of Haryana. He told that till date 20 GIAN courses have been awarded to CUH. In the present course, 56 participants from different universities have registered. Prof, Vikas Beniwal introduced the Vice Chancellor to the audience.
Dr. Arun Kumar Bhunia, the foreign faculty, and the course instructor highlighted the importance of microbial biofilms in our daily life. He highlighted both the positive and the negative aspects of the biofilms. Dr Sudhir Kumar Shukla, from BARC also briefed the audience towards these microbial communities. Prof. Neelam Sangwan, Dean Research, expressed pride in hosting the this GIAN program. Dr Puja Yadav, proposed the vote of thanks. At the inaugural session was attended by distinguished faculty members Prof. Pawan Kumar Maurya, Prof Antresh Kumar, Dr Jitendra Kumar Saini, Dr Tejpal Dhewa and other faculty
The first day concluded on a high note, setting the tone for this course in meaningful dialogue, academic collaboration, and enriched learning at Central University of Haryana.
