*Vigilance Bureau nabs ASI red handed accepting bribe of Rs. 7,000/-*
Chandigarh, 14 July 2026:The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended ASI (local rank) Kamaljit Singh posted at Women's Police Station, Police Lines Sangrur, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 7,000/-.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Bhawanigarh, district Sangrur.
He informed that the complainant faced a matrimonial dispute, following which his wife was living separately. His wife had subsequently filed a complaint against him, his father, and his brother at the Women's Police Station, Sangrur. The matter was being investigated by ASI Kamaljit Singh. The accused ASI demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for presenting the challan of the registered case in the competent court.
The complainant had already paid Rs 3,000 as the first instalment of the bribe to the accused ASI and promised to pay the remaining Rs 7,000 shortly, he added.
Unwilling to pay the remaining illegal gratification, complainant approached the VB range Patiala. Acting on his complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused ASI was arrested red handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 7,000/- from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigation into this case is under progress.

Chandigarh, 14 July 2026:The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI)Avtar Singh posted at Sadar Police Station, Morinda, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000/-.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a resident of village Chatamla tehsil Morinda district Ropar.
He informed that the complainant is engaged in agriculture work. His late father has about 6 acres of land on lease from Waqf Board for 99 years, which is being cultivated by him. A dispute arose when an other party, Tejpal Singh, forcibly cultivated part of this land and destroyed two acres of maize crops. On which he registered his complaint. But the police has taken action on the application of the other party Tejpal Singh and registered a case against the complainant and his mother. This case is being investigated by accused ASI Avtar Singh.
He said that ASI Avtar Singh demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000/- to drop complainant's mother name from the case. Upon requesting, ASI Avtar Singh agreed to take Rs. 35,000/- as bribe and took Rs. 5,000/- as bribe money from the complainant and asked to pay the remaining bribe Rs. 30,000/-.
Unwilling to pay the remaining illegal gratification, complainant approached the VB Flying Squad SAS Nagar. Acting on his complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused ASI was arrested red handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 30,000/- from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses.In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station SAS Nagar and further investigation into this case is under progress.

*Vigilance Bureau nabs Patwari red handed accepting bribe of Rs. 8,000/-*
Chandigarh, 14 July 2026:The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended Patwari Hitesh Kumar posted at revenue estate Mansa Khurd, district Mansa red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 8,000/-.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Ward No. 2, Mansa Khurd, district Mansa.
He informed that the complainant had purchased 4 kanals of land in the name of his wife in Mansa Khurd. Then the complainant transferred this land to another person by mutual consent. In this connection, complainant alleged that accused Patwari demanded bribe of Rs. 25000/- to execute the mutation of the transferred land in the revenue records. Complainant had recorded the conversation of demanding bribe.
Unwilling to pay the remaining illegal gratification, complainant approached the VB range Bathinda. Acting on his complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused Patwari was arrested red handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 8,000/- from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation into this case is under progress.
