*Our govt has presented pro-people budget to accelerate Punjab’s progress & make it number one state in country: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann*
Amritsar, March 12:After the court dismissed all allegations in the so-called Delhi liquor case and effectively affirmed his integrity as ‘kattar Imaandar’ (staunchly honest), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal visited Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib with his wife to offer prayers and express gratitude to Waheguru. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and his wife, along with other dignitaries, also paid obeisance at Darbar Sahib on the occasion.
Reflecting on the development, the AAP Supremo said that the leadership of the AAP had been subjected to a sustained campaign of false allegations and political mudslinging, under which five of the party’s top leaders were imprisoned on fabricated charges. He noted that even a sitting Chief Minister had been dragged from his residence in the middle of the night and sent to jail, but the court has now rejected all the allegations, observing that there was not even sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial and granting them complete relief.
During a media interaction, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “This could not have happened without the grace and blessings of Waheguru. I have come to Darbar Sahib many times earlier as well and taken Waheguru’s blessings. Now that our honour has been restored and we have been freed from all the allegations, today I, my wife, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and his wife, along with our families, have come to bow before Waheguru and express our gratitude. May Waheguru continue to guide us and keep showering his blessings on us. Waheguru has given us a very big responsibility to serve the people and we will continue to serve the people in the same spirit.”
The AAP Supremo stated, “For the last four years, our government has been running very well in Punjab. Work has been done for people in schools, hospitals, healthcare and now for women as well. Only when we receive the blessings of the people are ordinary people like us able to accomplish anything. Otherwise, in front of such powerful people, ordinary people like us would have no standing at all. We are able to stand firm because Waheguru’s blessings are with us and we are walking on the path of truth.”
Arvind Kejriwal further asserted, “A lot still remains to be done in Punjab. If we make four promises and deliver seven or eight works, that reflects greatness. But making eight promises and delivering only four does not reflect greatness. All the promises we made have been fulfilled. In the next one year, Mann Sahib and his entire team have prepared a very big plan. Now Punjab has to be taken to the next level. Work has to be done at the level of infrastructure and for providing employment to the youth.”
He noted, “From Friday, Invest Punjab is beginning and now many industries have started coming to Punjab. Big industrialists from across the country are showing interest in investing in Punjab. Together with the three crore people of Punjab, we will take the state to an entirely new level.”
Arvind Kejriwal also wrote on X, “On Thursday, Bhagwant Singh Mann and I, along with our families, paid obeisance at Sri Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. False allegations had been levelled against me and several leaders of my party. The court dismissed all the allegations and clearly stated that there was not even enough evidence to proceed with a trial. This victory of truth would not have been possible without the grace of Waheguru. Those who walk on the path of truth always receive the blessings of the Guru.”
Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “In recent days, a verdict of truth came from a Delhi court that the allegations levelled against the top leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, for which they were sent to jail, were completely false. The court said that there was not even a case to proceed with. They are not saying that the leaders have been acquitted after a trial, rather they are saying that the case itself never began and there was no trial at all. Therefore, as a gesture of gratitude for the rays of the sun of truth that have come for the AAP, we have come today to bow our heads and offer prayers.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “We have prayed for the chardi kala of Punjab and for the welfare of all, asking the Almighty to grant us wisdom and strength so that we can fulfil the responsibility of public service entrusted to us. Our government is about to complete nearly four years and the budget session is also underway. A pro-people budget has been presented so that Punjab progresses and becomes the number one state. With this resolve that we will all contribute wholeheartedly to making Punjab number one, we have come with our families today to thank the Almighty.”
The Punjab CM stated, “We pray that the Almighty continues to give us the strength to walk on the path of truth and honesty so that we can serve the country and the community. As we entered the corridors of Darbar Sahib, the words being recited were that if the Almighty is with you, there is no reason to fear anything. We are people who always bow before Waheguru.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further said, “There has been a very big decline in cases of farmers’ suicides in Punjab. According to the latest report received by the government, suicides have decreased because irrigation water is now reaching the fields. On 16 March 2022, water reached only 21 percent of the fields, whereas today in March 2026 it has reached nearly 75 to 80 percent. The power board has itself announced that it can reduce tariffs. Electricity consumption has come down and power is being supplied during the day. Farmers are also receiving MSP.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that on Wednesday the Punjab Government also brought a resolution in the Assembly demanding that agriculture be kept out of the proposed India-US agreement. “If agriculture is not kept out of this agreement, our farmer who is currently the owner of his field will become merely a customer. He will have to depend on external markets for seeds and will not be able to compete with cheaper grain or maize coming from the United States. In America the average farm size is 500 acres, whereas here it is around two and a half acres. In such a situation competition is not possible. The Prime Minister should not take such anti-farmer decisions.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann also informed that the Invest Punjab Summit will begin on Friday, 13 March and continue till 15 March. “Investors are coming not only from across the country but also from countries such as Japan, Korea, the UK, France and Switzerland. For the first time they are showing interest in setting up factories in Punjab and establishing large plants in partnership with Indian companies. On 20 March, the Tata Steel plant will be inaugurated and production will begin. After Jamshedpur, this will be the second largest steel plant in the country and it is coming to Punjab.”

MOHALI, 12 March 2026:Amid concerns arising from the ongoing war in the Gulf region and the rumours circulating about a possible shortage of LPG cylinders, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday said that the Punjab Government is fully alert and closely monitoring the situation to ensure that people do not face any difficulty in accessing essential commodities. The Chief Minister made it clear that the government will not allow panic, hoarding, or exploitation of consumers under any circumstances.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that tensions in the Gulf countries have led to rumours spreading rapidly across India about a possible LPG shortage, creating unnecessary concern among the public. “Rumours are being spread about a shortage of LPG cylinders due to the war in Gulf countries. *Traditional parties played musical chairs while youth waited for jobs; AAP Govt delivers employment through Mission Rozgar: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann*
MOHALI, 12th March 2026:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 818 youth across different departments under the ongoing Mission Rozgar initiative, taking the total number of government jobs provided by the Punjab Government to 65,264 in the last four years.
Addressing a gathering at a function organised to distribute appointment letters, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann described the milestone as a reflection of the government’s commitment to ensuring transparent and merit-based employment opportunities for the youth of Punjab. “Today appointment letters are being handed over to 818 youth in different departments,” he stated, noting that the recruits include 459 in the Power Department, 215 in the Local Government Department, 129 in the Department of Health and Family Welfare and 15 Professors and Assistant Professors in the Department of Medical Education and Research. He emphasised that the Punjab Government has so far provided 65,264 government jobs to youth across Punjab.
Highlighting the government’s continued focus on employment generation, the Chief Minister said that recruitment of another 1,750 candidates in the Power Department is currently underway and will be completed by June 2026. “All these jobs have been given purely on the basis of merit, transparency and without any recommendation,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that several candidates have even secured government jobs multiple times in different departments due to the fairness of the recruitment process.
Reflecting on the situation before 2022, the Chief Minister observed that for more than a decade the youth of Punjab were denied government jobs by successive governments. “It is unfortunate that for almost more than a decade the youth of Punjab were not given government jobs by the successive governments. These sinners had destroyed the future of our generations due to which they don’t deserve any sort of mercy,” he stated, adding that since assuming office the Punjab Government launched Mission Rozgar to ensure employment for the youth.
The Chief Minister noted that the Punjab Government has ensured employment opportunities for youth in every village, town and city of Punjab. He exhorted the newly appointed youth to discharge their duties with honesty, dedication and commitment. “From today onwards these youth are a part of the government family and together we will leave no stone unturned in making Punjab vibrant and prosperous again ‘Rangla Punjab’,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Sharing words of encouragement with the new recruits, the Chief Minister said that success has many stories but failure has none and that hard work, commitment and perseverance are the keys to success for every individual. “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that every day one or the other exam for government jobs is being conducted in Punjab, opening new vistas of employment for youth,” noted CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that every government officer and official plays a vital role in the progress of Punjab.
The Chief Minister emphasised that providing jobs to the youth is not a favour but their rightful opportunity based on their talent and capability. “These youth have got jobs completely on the basis of merit,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, urging them to become integral members of the government system and serve the people with missionary zeal.
Calling upon the recruits to work for the welfare of society, the Chief Minister expressed hope that they would use their positions to assist the needy and underprivileged sections. “The newly recruited youth should ensure maximum welfare of the public so that every section of society benefits from it,” affirmed CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, reiterating that the recruitment process was carried out through complete transparency and rigorous competition.
The Chief Minister further stated that the Punjab Government is utilising every single penny of the state exchequer for the welfare of the people. He pointed out that more than 90% households in Punjab are receiving free electricity and farmers are now getting power during daytime, which he described as unprecedented. “At a time when the assets of the country are being handed over by the Union Government to their blue-eyed friends at throwaway prices, the Punjab Government has created history by buying a private thermal plant,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the Punjab Government’s welfare initiatives for women. He said that under the Mukh Mantri Mavaan Dhian Satkar scheme, women above 18 years of age from the general category will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women from the Scheduled Caste category will receive ₹1,500 per month as financial assistance. “For ordinary people, especially the poor, ₹1,000-1,500 is a significant amount,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, describing the assistance as a mark of respect for mothers and daughters.
The Chief Minister remarked that those mocking the scheme or raising baseless questions fail to understand the value of ₹1,000 for ordinary citizens. “Those who spend more than ₹5,000 on a single meal from illegally earned money cannot understand the value of ₹1,000 which is a big financial assistance for people who have to work even on festivals,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that such affluent leaders and their families cannot appreciate the importance of this support for common households.
Referring to the venue of the event, the Chief Minister noted that while it is called Vikas Bhawan, it could well be renamed ‘Appointment Letter Bhawan’ given the large number of jobs being distributed. “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that government jobs have been provided to more than 65,000 youth purely on merit,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that in a positive sign for Punjab, reverse migration is now being witnessed with youth returning from abroad to join government jobs in Punjab.
The Chief Minister also remarked that traditional parties are uncomfortable with the people-centric governance model introduced by the Punjab Government. “These parties used to play musical chairs in power and waited for their turn to plunder the people and the country,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that this politics was halted when the people of Punjab gave a massive mandate to the present government, enabling it to implement a series of pro-people initiatives.
*Newly Recruited Youth Share Stories of Hope, Merit-Based Selection under AAP Govt, Express Gratitude After Securing Govt Jobs*
Meanwhile, several newly recruited candidates expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing jobs through a transparent process. Tajinder Singh from Ferozepur shared that when he received a call regarding the job, his family feared they would have to pay a bribe but he secured the job without spending a single penny.

He added that global companies such as Nestlé, Claas, Freudenberg Group, Cargill, Verbio and Danone have already established their units in Punjab, while investments are also coming from developed countries including Japan, the USA, Germany, the UK, the UAE, Switzerland, France and Spain.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the industrial sector can progress only when the government and industry work together. “I firmly believe that the industrial sector can progress only when the government and industry work shoulder to shoulder. Investors and entrepreneurs are among the key architects of Punjab’s industrial future,” the Chief Minister.
Inviting investors to participate in the Progressive Punjab Investment Summit, he described the upcoming three days as extremely important for the future of Punjab. “The Progressive Punjab Investors Summit is being organized in Mohali from March 13 to March 15. The coming three days are very important for the state,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The Chief Minister said Punjabis are blessed with an indomitable spirit of hard work, dedication and patriotism, recalling their historic contribution to the freedom movement, making the country self-reliant in food production and defending the nation’s borders. “The sole aim of recalling these things is to keep our younger generations abreast with the glorious and rich cultural and historic legacy of Punjab,” said the Chief Minister.
Expressing confidence about the future of the state, he said the expansion of Infosys’ campus will strengthen Punjab’s position as an emerging hub for technology and innovation while generating significant employment opportunities for youth from Punjab and neighbouring states. “This investment will create significant employment opportunities for the youth of Punjab and neighbouring states while strengthening the state’s IT ecosystem. The Chief Minister said the Punjab Government is committed to providing employment to youth so that they choose productive careers over social evils such as drug abuse. “I want to place a tiffin in the hands of youth by giving them employment so that they shun syringes and the menace of other drugs. Idle hands are the devil’s workshop, therefore the Punjab Government is ensuring that maximum youth get jobs so that they do not fall prey to social menaces,” said CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
He also remarked that before 2022 industrialists faced arm-twisting and extortion which forced many industries to leave Punjab, hampering the state’s economic growth. “After assuming charge in 2022, the Punjab Government has taken several revolutionary and path-breaking initiatives due to which Punjab has now emerged as a frontrunner in every field,” added CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora and Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney were also present on the occasion.

*Modi Govt lacks spine to defend India’s interests, foreign powers openly intimidate our ‘fragile’ foreign policy: Harpal Singh Cheema*
*BJP turning India into subservient market for US & enslaving country’s people: Harpal Singh Cheema*
*Centre’s diplomatic failure will trigger soaring fuel & cooking gas prices, common people will pay price for BJP leadership’s failure: Harpal Singh Cheema*
*BJP leaders silent on global crises out of fear of exposure or blackmail over sensitive international dossiers: Harpal Singh Cheema*
*BJP systematically starving opposition-ruled states & destroying India’s federal structure: Harpal Singh Cheema*
CHANDIGARH, 12th March 2026:Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Union Government’s foreign policy while supporting a resolution in the Punjab Assembly condemning the Centre’s handling of international relations amid the escalating US–Iran conflict. The resolution moved by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak received unanimous support from both the treasury and opposition benches, While the BJP MLAs were absent from the House
Addressing the House, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated, “Our foreign policy under PM Modi has become so fragile that we are constantly intimidated by foreign powers. Whether it was the intervention via a mere tweet during past border tensions or the absolute silence on the recent casualties in Iran, the Union Government has proven that it lacks the spine to stand up for India's strategic interests. We will not allow the BJP to turn India into a subservient market for the US, nor will we let them enslave the people of this country.”
The Punjab Minister continued, “PM Narendra Modi and the BJP have repeatedly prioritised personal and party interests over national sovereignty. The Union Government has repeatedly bowed to US pressure, making India look weak on the global stage. The prolonged silence of the BJP leadership on critical international issues raises serious concerns that the Union Government fears being exposed or blackmailed by foreign powers regarding sensitive international dossiers.”
He added, “Congress and BJP-led Union Governments have failed for decades to secure energy independence for the country, leaving India extremely vulnerable. The Union Government has remained silent despite Iran openly offering oil supplies. The fallout of the ongoing US-Iran conflict will inevitably lead to skyrocketing fuel and cooking gas prices, placing an unbearable financial burden on farmers, labourers and the middle class across the country and in Punjab.”
Harpal Singh Cheema said, “The Union Government’s foreign policy failure is a direct attack on our economy. As global fuel prices prepare to surge, it is the common man; the farmer, the laborer, the shopkeeper in Punjab and country, who will pay the price for the BJP's diplomatic incompetence. The BJP is systematically destroying India’s federal structure. Opposition-ruled states are being financially starved. Himachal Pradesh is facing severe fiscal distress and thousands of crores meant for Punjab under the Rural Development Fund (RDF) and the National Health Mission (NHM) have been illegally withheld.”
Ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled rally in Moga, the Finance Minister continued, “Punjab BJP leaders, including Sunil Jakhar and Capt. Amarinder Singh, must summon the courage to question the Home Minister about Punjab’s stalled RDF, NHM and PM Awas Yojana funds.”
Recalling his time on the GST Rate Rationalisation Committee, he added, “GST regulations were bulldozed through late-night emergency meetings despite strong opposition from states like Punjab, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Punjab, a state that has historically shed the most blood for the nation's independence and integrity, will once again lead the fight to protect India's sovereignty, democracy and federal structure from the BJP's dictatorial policies".

*Punjab expands healthcare workforce with 672 new staff nurse posts to improve patient care in govt hospitals*
CHANDIGARH, March 12:In a major step to further strengthen the public healthcare system, the Bhagwant Mann Government has issued advertisements for the recruitment of 672 Staff Nurses to enhance service delivery across government health institutions. The recruitment advertisement has been published in leading newspapers, inviting eligible candidates to apply through the official online portal of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.
The online application portal will remain open from 13 March 2026 to 02 April 2026. Candidates can submit their applications for these posts under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab through the university’s official website.
This recruitment comes in addition to the earlier sanctioned 406 Staff Nurse posts, out of which 275 appointment orders have already been issued. The appointed nurses have been deployed at various Sub Divisional Hospitals and District Hospitals across Punjab.
Notably, in January this year, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann personally handed over appointment letters to 282 newly recruited nurses. The move reflected the Punjab Government’s continued commitment to strengthening healthcare services and demonstrated the administration’s focus on efficient governance and timely recruitment in the public health sector.
The recruitment of 672 additional nurses will further strengthen the nursing workforce, particularly at the primary and secondary healthcare levels. This step is expected to improve patient care and reduce the workload in government hospitals.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare manpower, Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh said, “The Bhagwant Mann Government is committed to strengthening both healthcare infrastructure and manpower across Punjab. We have already recruited doctors, specialists and paramedical staff to improve services in government hospitals. To further reinforce our healthcare workforce and enhance patient care, we are now recruiting 672 additional Staff Nurses. This step will strengthen primary and secondary healthcare services and ensure better quality treatment for the people of Punjab.”
Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has consistently expanded the healthcare workforce and infrastructure across Punjab.
More than 1500 doctors have been appointed in recent years, including over 600 specialists and 948 general doctors. These appointments account for nearly 35 percent of the total doctors currently serving in Punjab and have significantly strengthened medical services across Punjab.
The Punjab Government has also focused on strengthening secondary healthcare facilities along with expanding the network of Aam Aadmi Clinics to bring quality primary healthcare services closer to communities.
In addition, the availability of free medicines and modern medical equipment has been enhanced across health facilities through procurement exceeding ₹300 crore, helping improve patient care and treatment outcomes.
Families across Punjab are also receiving financial protection through health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family per year under the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana, ensuring access to quality healthcare without financial burden.

*Congress MLA calling Speaker, ministers & AAP MLAs ‘bonded labourers’ is insult to Constitution & people’s mandate: Harpal Singh Cheema*
*Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira refused to apologise in House after making derogatory remarks: Harpal Singh Cheema*
*Some MLAs using theatrics & abusive language for social media traction: Harpal Singh Cheema*
*Punjab Assembly passes resolution to refer breach of privilege case against MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to Privileges Committee*
CHANDIGARH, 12 March 2026:The Punjab Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution with a significant majority to refer a breach of privilege case against Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to the Privileges Committee. The resolution, introduced by Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, addresses recent derogatory statements and unparliamentary conduct by the legislator, which the House deemed a direct insult to its elected members, the Constitution and the public.
Explaining the background of the resolution, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated, “The call for disciplinary action stems from social media posts made by MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on March 10, 2026. In these public statements, he referred to the Speaker, Cabinet Ministers and Aam Aadmi Party MLAs as ‘bonded labourers’.”
Presenting the resolution in the House, he said, “Such language undermines the dignity of constitutionally elected representatives and belittles the mandate given by the people. The issue was further aggravated on March 11, 2026, when MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira was given an opportunity on the floor of the House to clarify his statements and issue an apology, but he categorically refused to retract his words.” The resolution also strongly condemns highly objectionable physical gestures made by MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira while exiting the House during an opposition walkout on March 11.
Comparing the conduct to behaviour unbecoming of a legislative assembly, the Punjab minister added, “The gestures completely lacked parliamentary decorum and these actions were also witnessed by Sukhpal Singh Khaira’s fellow Congress MLAs. Certain legislators may be compromising the oath they took to the Constitution by using such vocabulary and theatrics to gain social media traction, generate amusement and potentially monetise their viewership.”
Calling for action to protect the dignity of the House, Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, “To firmly establish professional boundaries and uphold the sanctity of the Legislative Assembly, I appeal to the House to pass a resolution to entrust the Privileges Committee with a comprehensive investigation into the matter.”

*'From “Vishwa Guru” to queues for cylinders': Aman Arora tears into Centre Govt*
*•Arora exposes 'double failure' on foreign, domestic front; contrasts US refinery deal with India's LPG crisis*
*•'Aatmanirbhar' myth exposed as production dips, consumption & import soars, says Aman Arora*
CHANDIGARH, MARCH 12:Punjab Cabinet Minister and State President of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Mr. Aman Arora on Thursday lashed out at BJP-led Centre Government, holding it guilty of "comprehensive failure" on both foreign and domestic fronts. Drawing sharp contrasts between government claims and on-ground reality, he asserted that the twin promises of making India a 'Vishwa Guru' (world leader) and 'Aatmanirbhar' (self-reliant) now lie in tatters.
Participating in condemnation resolution moved by Food & Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Mr Aman Arora pointed to the contradiction he encountered in today’s newspapers. "On one side there were reports of kilometre-long queues outside gas agencies, thousands of hotels on the verge of closure, countless weddings teetering on cancellation and our mothers & sisters worried about running their kitchens. Right next to them was a full-page advertisement under the banner 'Your Home Our First Priority' by the Government of India, apparently an attempt to console people. The reality is by issuing that advertisement, they have admitted the situation is grave and getting gravier by the day."
He reminded the House of Prime Minister Modi's pre-2014 election speeches, where he thundered about leading the world and achieving self-reliance. "Fourteen years ago, he used to beat his chest and declare that 140 crore Indians would lead the world and never need imports. Today, look at where we stand. On both fronts—whether it is becoming Vishwa Guru or Aatmanirbhar—they have failed miserably."
Mr Aman Arora asserted that after 12 years in power, the BJP led dispensation still cannot distinguish between friends and adversaries. One by one, every neighbouring country has drifted away from us and moved closer to China. This is the legacy of their foreign policy.
He questioned the Prime Minister's recent visit to Israel, citing, "He goes there, hugs Netanyahu, and the very next day, the US and Israel eliminate Iran's top political and administrative leadership."
He also reminded the House about the horrific school attack where over hundreds of children were killed and not a single word of condemnation came from their mouths for the innocent children.
Drawing on the central government data, Mr. Aman Arora presented a statistical indictment of 12 years of governance. On natural gas, production has fallen from 40.68 BCM in 2012 to 35 BCM in 2024, while consumption has soared from 47 BCM to 69 BCM during the same period. On crude oil, domestic production dropped from 37 million metric tons in 2013-14 to 29 million metric tons in 2023-24, even as consumption shot up from 158 million metric tons to 233 million metric tons.

*Punjab Vidhan Sabha expresses concern as Union Govt's foreign policy failures threaten India’s energy security*
CHANDIGARH, 12 March 2026:The Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution highlighting the Union Government’s failure on the foreign policy front and its adverse impact on the country’s energy security. The resolution was tabled by Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, who said that the flawed foreign policy approach of the BJP-led Union Government has created a serious energy crisis affecting people across the country.
Resuming the debate on the resolution, Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak invoked the sacrifices made by India’s freedom fighters and said that the sovereignty for which they fought has been undermined by the Union Government’s actions. “Freedom fighters sacrificed their lives to free the country from the yoke of foreign imperialistic rule, but that same freedom has been battered away to the USA by the BJP-led Union Government in the wake of the Iran–US–Israel war,” stated the Minister.
He added that the ongoing conflict has led to the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a severe disruption in energy supplies to India. “The Iran–US–Israel war has resulted in the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz, which has caused an unprecedented shortage of LPG and oil in India, leading to harrowing inconvenience for the people,” Lal Chand Kataruchak stated.
Echoing similar sentiments, Education, Information, and Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the Union Government’s directionless foreign policy has weakened India’s global standing and pushed the country into diplomatic isolation. “The directionless and inherently flawed foreign policy of the Union Government has brought things to such a sordid state that India has been left almost isolated and without any friends at the international level,” stated Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

Narendra Modi government hurt the sovereignty of the country: Harbhajan Singh E. T. O.
BJP government created a crisis for the Indian people by becoming a pawn of America and Israel
Chandigarh, March 12:Speaking on the resolution presented in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha regarding the situation arising due to the attack on Iran by America and Israel, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh E. T. O. said that the Narendra Modi government has hurt the sovereignty of the country.
He said that when the situation of war was created between India and Pakistan last year, the President of America had announced at his own level that a ceasefire had been reached between India and Pakistan.
He said that now that the supply of oil and gas has stopped due to the joint attack on Iran by America and Israel, America has hurt the spirit of our country being a republic by saying that it has allowed India to buy oil from Russia for 30 days.
He said that the Modi government has given all the big institutions of the country to the favorite industrial houses to inflict serious internal damage to the country economically.
He said that the Modi government has completely ignored our constitutional principles. He said that India's Non-Aligned Movement had established a separate image of India in the whole world, but the central government has now harmed the interests of the Indian people by favoring America and Israel.
He said that while the current situation is creating an oil and gas crisis, there has also been a shortage of the necessary bitumen for the construction of roads.
