Mumbai/ Chandigarh, January 23: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today extended a red carpet welcome to the top honchos of the industry and invited them to invest in the state to give boost to the industrial growth and open doors of prosperity for the youth.
The Chief Minister had detailed parleys with Godrej, Hindustan Unilever, Mafatlal group, Mahindra & Mahindra, Jindal Steels and others during his itinerary here. He showcased the state as the most preferred destination to these industrial units and asked them to invest in the state. Bhagwant Mann also apprised them that the state government is making strenuous efforts to further strengthen the single window system for facilitating the investors.
The Chief Minister said that the pragmatic policies of the state government coupled with industrial peace and state of the art infrastructure provides a conducive atmosphere for the industrial development in the state. Bhagwant Mann pointed out that earlier single window service was merely a sham, devoid of any meaningful purpose, which not only demoralized the potential investors but also hampered the industrial development of the state. He said that now his government has ensured that the single window system works as a real facilitator to the entrepreneurs interested in investing in the state.
During a meeting with the representatives of the Hindustan Unilever, the Chief Minister asked them to expand their existing plant for tomato ketchup manufacturing in Nabha. He said that the state government will encourage the farmers of the state to sow tomatoes in Punjab thereby improving their economic lot. The company assured Bhagwant Mann that they will explore the feasibility of setting up their unit in the stat
The Chief Minister also had a detailed meeting with a delegation of Thyrocare- an Indian multinational chain of diagnostic and preventive care laboratories. During the meeting, he apprised the representatives of the company that the state government is laying major thrust on imparting quality healthcare services to people. Bhagwant Mann also invited the company to set up a chain of laboratories in the state to benefit the people.
During a meeting with the Mafatlal group, the Chief Minister invited them to invest in the state. He said that the cotton belt of the state produces the finest cotton across the globe which can be used as raw material for producing premium fabric. Bhagwant Mann asked the company to invest in the state as there is a huge potential of growth in Punjab.
Taking part in a meeting with representatives of Mahindra & Mahindra, the Chief Minister said that there is a huge potential for the tourism sector in the state especially around Ranjit Sagar Dam, Chohal Dam and others. The company showed keen interest in setting up its chain of Club Mahindra resorts in the state. They also invited the Chief Minister for inauguration of the upgraded plant of Swaraj Tractors at Lalru.
During a meeting with the delegation of Kotak Mahindra bank, the Chief Minister discussed the possibilities of expansion of the banking sector in the state. He assured the delegation that the state government will provide fulsome support and cooperation to them for setting their venture in Punjab. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is committed to giving impetus to progress of the state and prosperity of its people.
Meanwhile, during a meeting with a delegation of Hind Terminal- a logistics company, the Chief Minister said that there is a huge scope for the growth of the sector in the state. He assured full support to the company for expansion of their unit in Quilla Raipur. Bhagwant Mann said that the logistic park will be given a boost by the state government.
The Chief Minister also had detailed deliberations with the Godrej group, who called on him later in the day. Bhagwant Mann asked the group to invest in the agriculture sector for benefitting the farmers immensely. He also asked them to explore the possibility of expansion in the real sector too.
During a meeting with Jindal steel, the Chief Minister asked them to invest in the state as there was enormous scope of growth. He said that the state is heading towards becoming surplus in power production and this can help in accelerating the growth of industry. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government will leave no stone unturned for facilitating the promotion of industry.
The Chief Minister said that the Invest Punjab Summit being organized in Mohali on February 23-24 will prove to be a milestone towards giving a major fillip to industrial growth of the state. He said that the state government has already finalized the arrangements for this mega event. Bhagwant Mann said that the day is not far when Punjab will script a new success story in the arena of industrial growth.

• Printing & Stationery Minister reviews operations at Mohali Press to improve functioning
Chandigarh/SAS Nagar, January 23:Chief Minister S Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government is making a comprehensive plan to modernise the Punjab Government Press at SAS Nagar, stated Mr. Aman Arora, Minister for Printing and Stationery, Punjab, while adding that the Press will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
He was here to visit the Government Printing Press at SAS Nagar to review the operations and get first hand experience to further improve the functioning of the department.
Notably, Mr. Aman Arora had assumed the charge as Minister of this department recently. He also visited the state government printing press at Patiala last week.
Mr. Aman Arora along with Principal Secretary Printing and Stationery Mr VK Meena, Controller Mr Puneet Goel and Additional Controller Anand Sagar Sharma visited all the sections of the printing press and interacted with the officials and employees working there.
Underscoring the need to upgrade printing facility to keep pace with changing times, Mr Aman Arora said that this prestigious state government institute is suffering due to apathetic attitude of previous governments but Mann Government will not leave any stone unturned to revamp the printing facility by adopting the latest technologies equipped with digital infrastructure, besides improving building structure. He reiterated that all printing stationery works of the state government should be executed by the department itself.
The department officials assured the cabinet minister that they will work tirelessly to compete with modern trends.

State Government enforces ban on Chinese String

Chandigarh, January 23:Keeping in view the gravity of the situation, particularly the fast approaching Basant Panchmi festival, when customarily the people fly kites in large numbers, the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered ban on the sale, storage and purchase of such kind of China Dori made of synthetic material or any other similar material which is being sold and used for kite flying purposes, which is dangerous to not only the human life but also to the birds and the seizure the same immediately. Besides, the DGP has been directed to immediately issue directions to all the SHOs to conduct raids within their area of jurisdiction.
Disclosing this, the Environment Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that the above said orders have been given in accordance with the orders of the Hon'ble Punjab & Haryana High Court in CWP No. 487 of 2015 (O&M) dated 20 Jan 2015. Further, all the Deputy Commissioners in the State have been directed to inform the general public about the dangerous nature of the China Dori, so that they can educate their children not to use such kind of Dori for flying kites since the China Dori is a conductor of electricity, as this would have a great bearing on the safety of human life, particularly the birds.
Besides, the Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Govt. of Punjab vide notification no. 10/133/2016-STE(5)/173002 dated 23.02.2018 has passed the directions regarding complete ban on the manufacture, sale, storage, purchase, supply, import and use of kite flying thread made out of nylon, plastic or any other synthetic material including the popularly known "Chinese dor/manjha" an any other synthetic kite flying thread which is quoted with synthetic substance and is non-biodegrable, in the State of Punjab.
All Executive Magistrates in the State of Punjab, Officers of the rank of Wildlife Inspectors and above of the Forest Department, Govt. of Punjab, Officers of the rank of Sub-Inspectors and above of the Punjab Police, Class 'C' and above officials of the Municipal Bodies of the State and Officers of the rank of Assistant Environmental Engineers & above of the Punjab Pollution Control Board have been authorized to ensure implementation of the above directions, said the Minister adding that the National Green Tribunal in OA No. 384 of 2016 and OA No. 442 of 2016 in its order dated July 11, 2017 had also directed the State Governments to this effect and stated that in case of violation of any of the directions given in this Judgment, appropriate steps be taken against the defaulters under the provision of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986; Prevention of Cruelty of Animal Act, 1960; Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, the Indian Penal Code or any other provision of law.

Chandigarh, January 23:A day after Punjab Information & Public Relations and Housing & Urban Development Minister Mr Aman Arora pulled up officials and contractor for using the substandard construction material, a team led by Chief Engineer and SDO Punjab Mandi Board on Monday got replaced the bricks and other materials used for the construction of modern vending zone in Sunam Udham Singh Wala.
The move came a day after the Cabinet Minister conducted a surprise inspection at the modern vending zone being constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore at the old vegetable market in Sunam and detected that old and poor quality bricks were being used for installation of sewerage manhole chambers.
Pertinently, Mr. Aman Arora had directed the concerned officials and the contractor to replace the material at once otherwise a strict action would be initiated against them.
The Cabinet Minister has categorically stated that those who plunder state exchequer will be dealt with iron hands and strict action will be initiated against any officer, employee or contractor found misusing government funds.
Responding to the irrelevant and scurrilous statements of the opposition, the Cabinet Minister said that the loot of people's money during the previous governments will no longer be tolerated by the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
He unequivocally said that the Mann government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption and malpractice in government departments, therefore, no officer or employee will be spared if they found embroiled in any irregularities.

Chandigarh, 23 January-With an aim to provide free and top-class treatment to people of Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will dedicate 500 Aam Aadmi Clinics (Mohalla Clinics) to the people of Punjab.
Earlier, he had inaugurated 100 Aam Aadmi clinics built in the first phase on August 15 on the occasion of Independence Day. Now after the completion of 400 new clinics, the total number of Aam Aadmi clinics in Punjab will be 500.
Addressing a press conference in Mohali, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that the inauguration program would be held in Amritsar on January 27. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will inaugurate the clinics while AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will attend the program as the chief guest.
Harpal Singh Cheema said that it is a matter of great pride that the health revolution has started in Punjab within just a year of formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government. Before the elections, party chief Arvind Kejriwal had given a guarantee to the people of Punjab that to provide free treatment, Mohalla Clinics would be set up in Punjab if the government was formed. Now our Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is fulfilling all his promises and working assiduously to fulfill his dream of making the state again as Rangla Punjab.
Health Minister Dr. Balbir mentioned the successes of Aam Aadmi Clinic and said that till now more than one million people have taken advantage of Aam Aadmi Clinic and over three lakh people were examined at free of cost. Also, medicines were also given free of cost to the people.
Dr. Balbir said that the first priority of the AAP government is to ensure that people of Punjab gets free education and best quality treatment in the state. When the children of common people will get free education, free treatment, free medicines and free health check-up, they will save a lot of money. They will use this money for their daily needs. This will raise the standard of living of the common people and the society will progress in true sense, he added.

ACTION AGAINST CHINA DOR: PUNJAB POLICE RECOVER 11364 CHINESE DOR BUNDLES, ARREST 255 PEOPLE IN A MONTH
CHANDIGARH, January 23:Amid the ongoing decisive war against drugs launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police have arrested 241 drug smugglers/suppliers after registering 173 first information reports (FIRs), including 18 commercial, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act across the state in the last week.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Headquarters Sukhchain Singh Gill, while addressing his weekly Press Conference here on Monday, said that the Police have also recovered 5-Kg Heroin, 4.90-Kg opium, 5.92 quintals of poppy husk, and 1.95 Lakh tablets/capsules/injections/vials of Pharma opioids besides recovering Rs 7.89 Lakh drug money from their possession.
He said that with 13 more Proclaimed Offenders (POs)/Absconders in NDPS cases arrested in the last week, the total number of arrests reached 636 since the special drive to arrest POs/absconders was started on July 5, 2022.
Sharing monthly details on action taken against sellers trading in the Chinese Kite string, the IGP said that Police teams have recovered 11364 Chinese dor bundles after registering 234 First Information Reports (FIRs) and arresting 255 people indulged in selling this fatal kite flying string. As per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police will take strict action against those buying/selling Chinese kite flying string, he added.
Pertinently, Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab Gaurav Yadav had given strict instructions to all the CPs/SSPs to investigate backward and forward linkages minutely in each and every case, especially related to drug recoveries, even if they recover a meager amount of drugs.
Meanwhile, on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann to make Punjab a drug-free state, extensive anti-drug drives have been launched by the Punjab Police to combat the menace of drugs from the border State. The DGP has also strictly ordered all the CPs/SSPs to identify all hotspots where drugs are prevalent and all top drug smugglers in their jurisdictions. He also directed the Police chiefs to effectively forfeit the property of all the arrested drug smugglers so that their ill-gotten money could be recovered.
