Chandigarh, July 11:- Reinforcing Chandigarh's commitment to environmental conservation and urban biodiversity, Master Virpratap Thind, Founder of Virvanam Foundation, donated 1,050 indigenous fruit and flowering plants to the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh during the ongoing Van Mahotsav 2026 celebrations.

As part of the plantation drive, 350 plants were planted at the Lily Garden, Sector 9, including 50 indigenous trees such as Fig, Mango and Amla, along with 300 flowering shrubs comprising Hamelia, Hibiscus and Tecoma. The plantation was carried out by the Hon'ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, in the presence of senior officers of Chandigarh Administration, Municipal Corporation and dignitaries.

The generous contribution by Virvanam Foundation reflects a shared commitment towards enhancing the city's green cover, promoting ecological sustainability and conserving native plant species. The Commissioner MC Chandigarh expressed gratitude to Master Virpratap Thind for supporting the city's vision of creating a cleaner, greener and environmentally resilient Chandigarh.
