SHIMLA, 20.05.26-Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta today visited the Government Primary School at Gujrehra in Kangra district and interacted with students, teachers and education officials to assess the ground realities of education in rural areas of the State.
During the visit, the Governor took firsthand feedback regarding the academic environment, infrastructure facilities and challenges being faced by schools in far-flung regions. He interacted warmly with the students and encouraged them to pursue education with dedication and confidence.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that children are the future of the nation and emphasized the urgent need to strengthen educational infrastructure in remote and rural schools of the State. He stated that providing quality education to every child, irrespective of geographical challenges, must remain a top priority. He also stressed the need for better classrooms, sanitation, digital learning resources and a conducive academic environment in government schools located in rural areas.
Shri Kavinder Gupta expressed happiness that Himachal Pradesh has achieved remarkable progress in the field of quality education at the national level. Referring to the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 and PGI-D 2024-25 reports issued by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, he said that Himachal Pradesh has secured the sixth position in the country and third position among the states category after registering significant improvement.
The Governor also discussed with the accompanying officials the concept of strategic clubbing of schools for optimum utilization of available resources and manpower. He said that such measures could help strengthen the quality of education, ensure better academic exposure for students and improve administrative efficiency in the education sector.
He said that education plays a crucial role in shaping a progressive society and called upon teachers to continue working with dedication and commitment towards nurturing young minds. He lauded the efforts of teachers serving in difficult and remote areas and acknowledged their important contribution to society.
Senior officers of the Education Department and district administration accompanied the Governor during the visit.
