Chandigarh, May 8:- In a major late-night enforcement operation, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh carried out a special anti-encroachment drive across multiple parts of the city to ensure smooth movement on public roads and footpaths.
The drive was conducted from 10:00 PM till 12:30 AM in Sectors 19, 34, 37, 40, 22, Manimajra, IT Park, Sectors 17 and 12, besides areas near PGI Gate and Naya Gaon Barrier.
The special night operation targeted illegal occupation of V4 roads, public footpaths and other public spaces where vendors had left behind their belongings, carts and materials after business hours, causing inconvenience to commuters and obstructing pedestrian movement.
During the drive, enforcement teams removed encroachments and cleared public spaces with the help of 14 trucks deployed for lifting and transportation of seized material. A total of 9 Sub Inspectors Enforcement (SIEs) along with field staff were deputed to ensure effective implementation of the operation.
MC Joint Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Gupta said that such surprise enforcement drives will continue regularly to maintain cleanliness, public convenience and strict compliance with civic regulations across the city. The entire drive was conducted peacefully and smoothly with active coordination of enforcement teams.
