The self-enumeration process was facilitated by Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Director, Directorate of Census Operations, UT Chandigarh and Ms. Khushpreet Kaur, SDM (Central), UT Chandigarh.
By undertaking the self-enumeration process, the DGP highlighted the simplicity, accessibility, and secure nature of the digital platform. He emphasized that such citizen-centric initiatives not only streamline the enumeration process but also ensure greater accuracy and transparency in data collection.
He has further appealed to all police personnel as well as the general public to actively participate in Census 2027 by making use of the self-enumeration facility. He underscored that accurate and timely submission of data is crucial for effective policy formulation, efficient resource allocation, and strengthening governance mechanisms.

Nourishing Futures: Poshan Pakhwada Sparks Community Action and Early Learning Initiatives
Chandigarh, April 17, 2026: Under the ongoing Poshan Pakhwada, a series of activities were successfully organized across various centers to promote nutrition, early childhood care, and community participation. At RC Dhanas-1, an engaging event on DIY Toy Making was conducted, in which parents participated enthusiastically. An awareness session was also organized where parents were sensitized about the use of easily available household materials for making safe, low-cost, and educational toys for children.
In Vikas Nagar, a sports competition was organized for children in the age group of 3–6 years. The children actively participated in various activities, which helped promote physical development, coordination, and teamwork in a fun and engaging manner.
At Palsora, a session on Early Learning at Home using Low-Cost Materials was conducted under the Navchetana framework (0–3 years). During the session, parents were guided on how to support their children’s early learning and development at home using simple and locally available resources.
Along with these major activities, several supportive initiatives were also carried out across the centers. These included youth group meetings to encourage community participation, promotion of millets for better nutrition, campaigns for backyard kitchen gardens (Poshan Vatikas), home visits to spread awareness about the use of millets, and promotion of Anganwadi Centres as learning centres.
These activities witnessed active community involvement and contributed significantly towards raising awareness about nutrition, health, and early childhood development.
