CHANDIGARH, February 8:Punjab’s livestock farmers are set to receive a major boost as the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led State Government is set to roll out ‘Blue Cross’ veterinary medicine stores in six districts to make advanced animal healthcare more accessible and affordable.
Sharing details of the initiative, Punjab Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian said the move will significantly reduce the financial burden on farmers and strengthen the rural livestock economy.
Explaining the contours of the scheme, Punjab Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian said that livestock farmers will receive a 30 percent discount on all generic veterinary medicines and a 20 percent discount on branded medicines at the ‘Blue Cross’ stores, a step aimed at ensuring affordability without compromising on quality.
The Minister further informed that the ‘Blue Cross’ stores will be established within state-of-the-art veterinary polyclinics in Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Amritsar districts. These veterinary polyclinics, where advanced Indoor Patient Department services were launched last year, reflect the Punjab Government’s focus on building strong institutional and multi-specialty animal healthcare systems across the state.
“Our farmers are the backbone of Punjab’s prosperity and the health of their livestock is directly linked to their income and well-being. The Blue Cross stores are a key step towards health and prosperity by making quality animal healthcare affordable and accessible,” S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian said.
He added that the initiative will have a far-reaching impact on livestock farmers by enhancing affordability through discounted medicines, encouraging preventive care, and protecting farmers’ income.
The Animal Husbandry Minister noted that direct access to genuine medicines within polyclinics will ensure safety and will save critical time, while the integration of pharmacy services with existing IPD facilities will provide a seamless continuum of care from diagnosis to recovery. “Healthier livestock will lead to higher productivity and will strengthen the sustainability of dairy and allied rural economies,” he said.
Highlighting the administrative commitment behind the initiative, Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Rahul Bhandari said that the state government remains focused on strengthening the agrarian ecosystem and uplifting every stakeholder in the animal husbandry value chain. He said such initiatives will further consolidate Punjab’s position as a leader in livestock welfare and rural prosperity.

*Punjab’s Healthcare Turnaround: Aam Aadmi Clinics Win Public Confidence with Free, Quality Treatment under Bhagwant Mann Govt*
*AACs Redefine Public Healthcare in Punjab with Free Medicines, Diagnostics and High Patient Trust*
*96% Patients Satisfied with Treatment at Aam Aadmi Clinics as Bhagwant Mann Govt Delivers Healthcare Revolution in Punjab*
*From Access to Dignity, Bhagwant Mann Govt’s AACs Set New Benchmark in Public Healthcare*
CHANDIGARH, February 8:The Bhagwant Mann Government has delivered a decisive and people-centric transformation of Punjab’s public healthcare system, with Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) emerging as the backbone of accessible, dignified, and free primary healthcare across the state. The latest State Report Card prepared by the Punjab Development Commission (PDC) data offers clear, evidence-based validation of the healthcare revolution underway in Punjab under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government.
According to the Patient Feedback State Report Card, based on interviews with 18,256 patients across the state, an overwhelming 96 percent of patients expressed satisfaction with the treatment provided at Aam Aadmi Clinics. The report establishes that primary healthcare in Punjab has shifted decisively from scarcity and neglect to reliability, quality, and trust, with citizens receiving timely medical attention without any financial burden.
The findings show that all patients received medicines completely free of cost at Aam Aadmi Clinics, with 92 percent reporting that they received all prescribed drugs. In diagnostics as well, 94 percent of patients reported that their prescribed investigation tests were conducted at the clinics themselves, again entirely free of cost. This reflects a fundamental policy shift under the Bhagwant Mann Government, where healthcare is treated as a right and not a privilege reserved for those who can afford private hospitals.
The report also highlights the emphasis placed by the Bhagwant Mann Government on dignity and patient experience. As many as 99 percent of patients reported that Aam Aadmi Clinic premises were clean, 99 percent confirmed the availability of adequate seating, 97 percent reported access to drinking water, and 95 percent stated that toilets were clean. These indicators demonstrate that healthcare delivery under the current government goes beyond treatment alone and focuses on creating humane, respectful public institutions.
District-wise data further underscores the uniformity and scale of this transformation, with high satisfaction levels reported consistently across districts including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, and Tarn Taran. The party said this consistency reflects strong governance, regular monitoring, and a clear political commitment to strengthening public health infrastructure in every part of Punjab.
The success of Aam Aadmi Clinics in Punjab under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stands as a model for the rest of the country. At a time when rising medical costs are pushing families into debt, Punjab has demonstrated that high-quality, free primary healthcare can be delivered at scale through political will, transparent governance, and patient-first planning.
The AACs initiative has not only reduced the financial burden on ordinary families but has also decongested secondary and tertiary hospitals by addressing healthcare needs at the neighbourhood level. This is the essence of the healthcare revolution promised by the AAP and delivered by the Bhagwant Mann Government in Punjab.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Bhagwant Mann Government said it will continue to expand and strengthen AACs across Punjab, ensuring that every citizen has access to timely, free, and quality healthcare close to home, and that public healthcare institutions remain a source of trust and dignity for the people.

The DGP said that starting from Monday, the Operation Prahaar-2 will be conducted till Wednesday, and senior officers from Punjab Police Headquarters have been deputed for effective supervision of the operation.

Apart from this, preventive action has been initiated against 2,973 persons, whereas, 5,413 persons were verified and released after questioning, he said, while adding that 344 proclaimed offenders (POs) were also arrested.

He said that CPs/SSPs have been directed to personally visit all important scenes of crime to supervise investigations and ensure the tracing of heinous offences. As part of the confidence-building measures, all the district chiefs have been directed to personally conduct field visits in high footfall and hotspot areas, he added.
DGP Gaurav Yadav informed that the state's police force is being significantly augmented by auditing and mobilizing force deployment from non-core duties to strengthen round-the-clock High-Tech Nakas and city sealing points. Following reports that many vehicles are moving without numbers, which are being used in crimes, the operational directions have also been issued to intensify the checking of vehicles, with a specific focus on challaning and impounding vehicles, especially two-wheelers, moving without number plates.
Stressing on the need to make maximum use of wireless sets and walkie-talkies, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that it shall be the responsibility of the concerned CP/SSP/Range IGP/DIGs to put in place proper police response after immediately the incident is reported. “To ensure rapid response after any crime incident is reported, a comprehensive sealing plan must be immediately implemented to intercept perpetrators through intensive checking at escape routes and exit points,” he said.
