Ludhiana 14 November 2025-The foundation stone for a state-of-the-art International Hostel at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, was laid by Dr. M.L. Jat, Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Secretary, DARE, Government of India. The proposed International Hostel will cater to the accommodation and academic needs of foreign students and scholars, thereby strengthening the University’s global academic outreach and collaborative initiatives.

Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice Chancellor, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and highlighted the University’s commitment for providing world-class facilities to international students while fostering multicultural exchange and academic excellence. He emphasized that the new hostel will mark another milestone in Varsity’s journey toward becoming a globally recognized institution in veterinary and animal sciences. Dr. M.L. Jat visited University Dairy and Fish Farms as well as Multispecialty Veterinary Hospital. Addressing the gathering, Dr. M.L. Jat appreciated the work being done by the University in the field of veterinary services, dairy animal breed development programs & fishery.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research will provide financial assistance for the construction of this new international hostel. The two-storey building of the hostel will have 20 rooms for accommodation of 40 guests, which will be provided with all modern facilities. A recreation lobby will also be constructed for the rejuvenation of the guests.

The event was graced by Dr. S.S. Gosal, Vice Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University; Dr. Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR; Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, CIPHET, Dr. H.S. Jatt, Director, IIMR; Dr. Parvender Sheoran, Director, ATARI Zone-I, ICAR; senior officers from PAU and State Departments; along with Deans, Directors, and faculty members of Vet Varsity.
