CHANDIGARH, 02.11.25-GGDSD College, Chandigarh, clinched the overall Trophy at the 66th Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival on the final day of the Panjab University Youth Festival. D.A.V College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, and M.C.M -D.A.V College for Women, Sector 36, Chandigarh, secured the first runners-up and second runners-up positions, respectively.
GGDSD College's outstanding performance has resulted in its eleventh triumph, building upon its legacy of ten consecutive wins. This year's overall trophy win of GGDSD College surpasses the college's previous year's best of securing the first runner-up position.
The last day of culture and festivity witnessed enthralling performances from around 280 students from various colleges in One Act Play, Histrionics, Bhangra, Group Dance, and Classical Dance.
The morning event was graced by esteemed chief guests Sh Rupinder Singh Brar, IAS, Director, Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration; Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, SSP-Chandigarh; and Sh. Charanjeet Virk, DSP, a proud alumnus of the college.
Sh Rupinder Singh Brar emphasized that connecting with our roots and prioritizing education is essential. He urged students to reduce screen time and stay focused and grounded. Mr Singh acknowledged GGDSD College’s consistent outstanding performance in academics and extracurricular activities. Prime Minister Modi's vision of Vikshit Bharat can be made a reality through collective efforts, contributing skills, and knowledge,” stated Mr. Brar.
GGDSD College also acknowledged the Chandigarh Police Raising Day celebrations, celebrated on November 1st, 2025, and the invaluable contributions of police personnel in maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and upholding justice.
The college’s main auditorium witnessed talented performances by six teams in One Act Play and seven teams in Histrionics, while the Open Stage featured breathtaking performances by 6 teams in Bhangra and seven teams in Classical and ten teams in Classical Group Dance.
The grand four-day festival was concluded with the felicitation ceremony, graced by the esteemed presence of Dr Yojna Rawat, Dean, University Instructions, Chandigarh. Dr Yojna while addressing the gathering said , "Youth festivals are flourishing, empowering students to excel and showcase their talents. Supported by dedicated teachers, these events celebrate the potential of our youth and the richness of our heritage."Prizes were awarded to winners in recognition of their outstanding talent and creativity.
College Principal Dr Ajay Sharma extended heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and hard work exhibited by the faculty and students.
