Chandigarh, May 14:-:In response to a heartfelt appeal by the City Mayor, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur Babla, the citizens of Chandigarh turned out in large numbers to volunteer in a Mega Blood Donation Camp organized across six major locations in the city and recorded collection of 530 units of blood, which made a new record in city.

The Mayor had earlier urged residents to come together to donate blood as a tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrifice their lives for national safety. The event not only fulfilled this vision but also demonstrated Chandigarh’s collective spirit and humanitarian commitment.

The mega camp, conducted in active collaboration with various NGOs, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), Market Welfare Associations (MWAs), and government departments, saw enthusiastic participation from government employees, market communities, youth groups, and local citizens. The blood donation camps were supervised by trained healthcare professionals from Government Hospitals, ensuring hygienic, safe, and efficient collection procedures.

The camp was inaugurated simultaneously at 9:00 AM at the following six locations:
The camps were inaugurated by City Mayor Mrs. Harpreet Kaur Babla including:
* Community Centre, Manimajra Complex, Gobindpura, Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38 and community centre, sector 28-C, which was organized in collaboration with local RWA.

MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS inaugurated similar blood donation camp at Municipal Corporation Building, Sector 17, which was organized by Municipal Corporation Engineers Association. Commissioner not only honoured the blood donors but himself donated blood during the camp to boost the moral of volunteers.

Sh. Jasbir Singh Bunty, Senior Deputy Mayor inaugurated blood donation camp at Sector 19 Market organized by Rotary & blood bank society resource center and area Market Welfare Association.

Similarly same camp was inaugurated at Sector 15 Market by Smt. Taruna Mehta, Deputy Mayor, which was organized by Chandigarh Beopar Mandal. President Sh. Sanjiv Chaddha and other office bearers of CBM also donated blood during the camp.

Throughout the day, a continuous stream of donors, including civic employees, shopkeepers, students, professionals, and homemakers, visited the camps. Volunteers ensured smooth coordination and donor support, making the event a grand success.

Speaking after the event, the Mayor highlighted the importance of regular voluntary blood donation and praised the citizens of Chandigarh for responding with such unity and compassion. The collected blood will be used to serve patients in need across hospitals and emergency care units in the region.

The event not only met its health and humanitarian goals but also echoed the Mayor’s sentiment that “every drop of blood donated is a step toward saving a life and honoring our heroes in uniform.” It marked a strong example of civic responsibility and community action that Chandigarh continues to be proud.
