Ludhiana 02 May 2025-Brig. P.S. Cheema, SM, VSM, Group Commander of Ludhiana Group of National Cadet Corps (NCC) visited 1 Pb R & V SQN NCC Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) Ludhiana. Col. A Shrinivas Rao, Officer Commanding of 1 Pb R & V Sqn, NCC welcomed him and introduced to the staff of the Unit.
Brig. Cheema inspected the horse stables, training area and functioning of the NCC Unit and was all praise of the proper maintenance and upkeep of the Unit. He also lauded the excellent efforts and support of Varsity to the NCC Unit. He was elated to know that the veterinary graduates of the university undergo compulsory NCC training for the first three years of their degree. He interacted with the cadets, Associate NCC Officers, Permanent Instructional Staff, Unit staff and motivated them to train the cadets so that they can shine in every field and be helpful in nation building. He emphasized the importance of discipline, physical fitness in day-to-day life to the cadets. He lauded the trainee cadets who do horse riding training in the morning and evening for taking out time from their hectic schedules and also encouraged them to work hard and make the unit proud in the Republic Day Camp.
Brig. Cheema met Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice Chancellor of Varsity. Dr. Gill apprised him that students bring honours at Republic Day Camp where the Unit has a history of being one of the best in equestrian events. The veterinary graduates of the university were encouraged to join Remount Veterinary Corps. Dr. Gill said that the NCC Unit has full support of varsity administration and he lauded the efforts put up by the staff of NCC unit for training the students in the best possible way.
