Governor inaugurates International Lavi Fair
SHIMLA-11th November, 2024-Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated the four-day International Lavi Fair at Rampur Bushahr in Shimla district today. Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering the Governor said that Lavi fair endures a cultural as well as commercial significance. "This historic event, deeply rooted in our heritage, was not only a celebration of trade but also a vibrant festival uniting tradition, community and cultural exchange, said the Governor. He highlighted the fair's centuries-old role as a hub for trade and cultural fusion. He said that even today this fair continues to bring economic opportunity and reinforce social ties besides showcasing the diverse traditions of the state and country.
The Governor praised the cultural troupes from across the country who exemplifies unity in diversity by sharing their distinct cultural performances on a common platform. He described the fair as a "melting pot" where different cultures and ideas converge and echoes the rich legacy of the Rampur as a center for commerce and friendship.
The Governor also expressed gratitude to the organizers for preserving the traditions of the fair. He said that the unique crafts, woollen textiles and dry fruits displayed in the fair provide artisans and farmers with valuable opportunities to sell their products. He said that like Kumbh Mela Lavi fair also encourages cultural recognition and endures a spirit of unity.
The Governor offers prayers to Mata Bhimakali for the happiness and prosperity of the state and its people.
Earlier, Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated exhibitions organized by various departments and organizations, showing keen interest in their efforts.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the International Lavi Fair Organizing Committee Anupam Kashyap honoured and welcomed the Governor and Lady Governor on the occasion. He gave detailed information about the various activities being organized during the fair.
Various folk dance groups performed cultural dances on the occasion.
Zila Parishad Chairperson Chandraprabha Negi, Nagar Parishad Chairperson Muskan Negi and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.

Governor visits NJPC project site
SHIMLA, 11.11.24-During his two-day visit to Rampur Bushahr in Shimla district, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today visited the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydroelectric project site. Lady Governor Janki Shukla also accompanied him.
The Governor visited the underground tunnel and turbine complex where the project head Manoj Kumar apprised him of the engineering of the project.
Later, the Governor was given a detailed presentation on the achievements and other activities through a presentation.
The Governor said that the SJVN had made a big contribution to the nation in the power sector. He said that it was one of the few profit-making organisations and hence it could be called an important asset of the Central Government. He said that the Nathpa Jhakri Hydroelectric Project was a wonderful example of engineering and various activities were being implemented under Corporate Social Responsibility, which are commendable.
Later, the Governor also visited the Hard Coating Chamber.
Principal Advisor, SJVNL M.P.Sood welcomed the Governor and thanked him for visiting the project site.
Secretary to Governor C.P. Verma, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, other officers of the district administration were also present on the occasion.
