CHANDIGARH, 01.08.24-Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, lent a divine start to the new academic sessionwith a havan yajna here today. Organised under the aegis of the Arya Samaj Committee of the college, the ceremony was held in keeping with the college's timeless tradition of seeking heavenly blessings on the commencement of the new session. Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava, staff members and students offered prayers to the holy fire for a fulfilling session ahead. Soulful hymns reverberated the campus, filling everyone present with spiritual energy. The staff members and students whose birthday falls in the month of August were felicitated with garlands on this occasion. An orientation session was also held after the havan wherein Dr. Gurvinder Kaur, Head, Department of Public Administration, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Applications, and Dr. Minakshi Rana, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, apprised the newcomers about New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, cyber security and women empowerment and safety, respectively.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava welcomed the newcomers and familiarised them with the rich legacy of the great visionary Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan, to whose memory the college is dedicated.
