MAHENDERGARH, 09.07.24-Central University of Haryana (CUH) organized an online Panel Discussion on “Significance of Folk Songs in educational settings” by the Department of Teacher Education under Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) funded Research Project. In the panel discussion, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice- Chancellor of the University and Prof. Sushma Yadav, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University were present along with panelist expert Mr. Harvinder Malik.

Prof. Sushma Yadav, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University has deliberately explained each and every key point of Panel discussion in such a beautiful way like ‘to express too much in too few words’. Prof. Sushma Yadav presents Indian folk songs as a wide range of regional compositions, each carefully crafted to reflect the rhythm of each month, the colour of each season and the gaiety of diverse occasions.

The beginning of the Panel discussion started with the Introduction speech of Prof. Nand Kishor by giving information about panel discussion, its topic and significance. After that, welcome address given by Prof. Parmod Kumar, HoD, Department of Teacher Education. The expert Panelist Mr. Harvinder Malik said that music, films and paintings etc. have played a significant role in the promotion of Haryanvi culture.

Dr. Hanuman Sahay Meena from Jawaharlal Nehru University; Shri Hariom Kaushik, renowned Film maker; Dr. Krishna Kumari, retired Principal and Alumni of Central University of Haryana participated in the panel discussion. In Panel discussion Panelists have discussed about the significance of folk songs in current educational scenario by shedding light on the different aspects of integration of folk songs.
