CHANDIGARH,15.05.2024-In celebration of International Nurses Day, the PGI Nurses Welfare Association, in collaboration with ROTTO (North), successfully organized a Blood Donation and Organ Pledging Camp at the Blood Donation Complex, PGIMER, today.

The event garnered enthusiastic participation from nursing officers, medical professionals, and the local community, all united in the mission of saving lives and promoting health and concluded with over 75 individuals volunteering to donate blood and 31 participants pledging to donate their organs, highlighting a collective commitment to these vital healthcare initiatives.

Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent and Head of the Department of Hospital Administration at PGIMER, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while Mrs. Jaspal Kaur, Chief Nursing Officer at PGIMER, attended as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Rati Ram Sharma, Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine at PGIMER, was also present to lend his support to the cause.

Inaugurating the camp, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent and Head of the Department of Hospital Administration at PGIMER commended the initiative, stating, “On International Nurses Day, we celebrate the dedication and compassion of our nurses. The PGI Nurses Welfare Association has once again demonstrated leadership in healthcare advocacy. By organizing this Blood Donation and Organ Pledging Camp, they have not only recognized their commitment to patient care but also extended their impact to the broader community.”

Ms. Manjneek Kaur, President of the PGI Nurses Welfare Association, remarked, “Our nurses are not just caregivers but also champions of community health. By organizing this camp, we aim to inspire more people to donate blood and pledge their organs, ultimately saving countless lives. The overwhelming response we received today is a testament to the compassion and dedication of our healthcare community and the public."

Informative sessions on the importance of blood and organ donation were also conducted, educating attendees and encouraging ongoing participation in these essential health activities.
