CHANDIGARH,19.03.24-The Central Placement Cell organised its annual “Industry Academia Meet” on 19^th March 2024 in Law Auditorium, Panjab University, Chandigarh. More than 550 students across 38 departments attended the event. The Chief guest for the event was Prof. Yajvender Pal Verma, Registrar Panjab University, the Guests of Honor were Prof. Sanjay Kaushik Dean College Development Council, Honorary Director ICSSR. Dr. Pradeep Khanna Group Project Manager Infosys, Mr. Harshvir Singh (Managing Director Drish Infotech), Mr. Anurag Aggarwal (Managing Director PK Industries), Mr.Gagan Jain (AGM Sales-Panasonic India), and Ms. Charu Gautam (Senior. HR) from bebo Technologies. The Dignitaries released posters for “AVSAR-II” the placement drive of Panjab University to be held on 6^th ,8^th &9^th of April 2024.

Prof. Meena Sharma (Honorary Director- CPC) formally welcomed the dignitaries and emphasised the importance of mutual growth and opportunities for the students as well as the corporates. She underscored the role the central placement cell plays in bridging the gap between the industry and academics. She addressed this event as the celebration of the spirit of collaboration between Industry and academia and talked about how the Central Placement Cell works for the benefit of the students. Prof. Yajvender Pal Verma, Registrar Panjab University in his address to the audience talked about the importance of having clear goals in essence to which he underscored what youth of today must have is: courage, devotion and driving goals. He focussed upon being self-driven and enhancing the skills and competency in order to continuously work upon oneself . Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean College Development Council, spoke about how subject knowledge is the foundation for professional competence. He also emphasised the importance of enthusiasm, stamina and energy the youth must have to make this world a better place.

Dr. Pradeep Khanna Group Project Manager Infosys spoke about the four important pillars of career success which included data, knowledge, attitude and ethics. Mr. Harshvir Singh (Managing Director Drish Infotech) advised the freshers to be patient and genuine while working. Mr. Anurag Aggarwal (Managing Director PK Industries), emphasised on the importance of having clear goals, a dream job and realising what difference you want to make in the world. Mr. Gagan Jain (AGM Sales-Panasonic India) addressed about the importance of having the industry commitment, culpability, communication and do it yourself attitude. Ms. Charu Gautam (Senior. HR - Bebo Technologies) put across about the importance of soft skills in the AI world and how we must team up and use the fullest potential of the upcoming technologies. Mr. Amit Anand Kumar, consultant in Infosys briefed the students about how to prepare for the upcoming placement drive.. He discussed the potential areas where students can tap upon. The event was concluded by a vote of thanks by Mr. Ganga Ram Choudhary
