NEW DELHI-- 29TH FEBRUARY, 2024-On Thursday, the 92nd train under the Mukhyamantri Teerthyatra Yojna departed from Delhi to Dwarkadhish, with 780 elderly individuals. Before the pilgrimage, a devotional evening was organized at Thyagaraj Stadium for all pilgrims. Revenue Minister Atishi met with the pilgrims there and handed over pilgrimage tickets and kits to them.
On this occasion, Revenue Minister Atishi said, "I would like to express gratitude on behalf of all the elderly people in Delhi to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who considers all the elderly in Delhi as his own parents and is arranging pilgrimage trips for them, playing the role of a son."
Addressing the elderly, she said, "In Delhi, their son Arvind Kejriwal thought that as soon as a person enters old age, a desire arises in their heart that after a lifetime of hard work, they want to undertake a pilgrimage. However, many individuals either lack the time or the means to arrange a pilgrimage for themselves."
In such a situation, as a responsible son for the elderly in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal has arranged pilgrimage trips for every elderly person in Delhi, just like Shravan Kumar. In the role of Shravan Kumar for the elderly in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sent over 87,000 elderly individuals on pilgrimages through 91 trains from Delhi so far. He has committed that no matter how many obstacles arise, he will not let the pilgrimage journey for the elderly stop, and he will ensure that every elderly person in Delhi gets the opportunity to undertake a pilgrimage.
The Revenue Minister said, "I am pleased to note that in the elderly population going on pilgrimage trips in the past, more than 80% are women. This is highly commendable because, in our society, a woman dedicates her entire life to serving her family. Often, women put themselves behind and prioritize their families. For us, it is a matter of great joy that the mothers who have devoted their entire lives to serving their families are being sent on pilgrimage journeys at this stage of life."
On this occasion, she extended best wishes to the pilgrims for their journey and appealed to them, saying, "During the pilgrimage, may all of you have a good darshan and pray for the progress and prosperity of the country and Delhi to Lord Shri Krishna. She urged the pilgrims, saying that when they reach Dwarkadheesh, along with their families, they should also wish for the well-being and prosperity of the people of the country and Delhi."
Under the Mukhyamantri Teerthyatra Yojna, the Delhi government has been organizing visits for its elderly citizens to various pilgrimage sites across the country for the past two to three years. In this series, on Thursday evening, a train departed from Safdarjung Railway Station to Shri Dwarkadheesh. Before this, an evening of devotional songs was organized at Thyagaraj Stadium by the Delhi government. The aim was to provide an opportunity for pilgrimage travelers to connect with fellow travelers embarking on a spiritual journey and to attain inner peace.
Revenue Minister said that the residents of Delhi are fortunate to have Arvind Kejriwal as a son for every elderly person in Delhi. He has taken the responsibility to ensure that every elderly person in Delhi gets the opportunity to undertake a pilgrimage. Playing the role of Shravan Kumar, he has already sent more than 87,000 elderly individuals on pilgrimage journeys.
It is to be noted that under this scheme, the Kejriwal government sends travelers by AC trains, books AC accommodation for them, arranges for timely meals, and sightseeing, and ensures that elderly individuals do not face any problems at any point during the journey. The Kejriwal government ensures that all facilities remain intact for the elderly throughout the entire journey.
The Delhi government organizes visits to pilgrimage places Rameswaram, Dwarkadhish, Somnath, Nageshwar, Jagannath Puri, Baba Mahakal, Shirdi, Tamkeshwaram, Tirupati Balaji, Ayodhya, Mata Vaishno Devi, Pushkar, Fatehpur Sikri, the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Kartarpur Sahib, Mathura-Vrindavan, and Haridwar at its own expense. Eligible travelers can choose their preferred pilgrimage destinations.
To participate in these pilgrimages, all pilgrims need to apply through the online portal. After scrutinizing the applications, the Delhi government arranges for comfortable trains to take them to the desired pilgrimage destinations. The Delhi government takes responsibility for transportation from the pilgrims' homes to the railway station and back home after the journey. Additionally, it organizes transportation from the hotels to the pilgrimage sites and local travel once they reach there. During the journey, all pilgrims are provided with accommodation in good hotels, along with arrangements for meals and snacks. Furthermore, every pilgrim is given a kit containing essentials such as bed sheets, blankets, towels, and bathing kits to ensure their comfort during the trip and avoid any inconvenience.
Under the Mukhyamantri Teerthyatra Yojna of the Delhi government, more than 87,000 pilgrims have undertaken journeys to various pilgrimage sites across the country through 91 trains so far. As part of this plan, on Thursday, the 92nd pilgrimage train departed for Dwarkadhish with 780 elderly individuals from Delhi.
