*New Delhi:*28.02.24-Taking cognizance of the challenges faced by the public due to the prolonged suspension of services on Bus route number 928, the Transport Minister of Delhi, Shri Kailash Gahlot, promptly took action by inaugurating the resumption of the bus service on route 928 from Nizampur village. The route 928, will serve commuters by connecting Garhi Randhala Village to the Old Delhi Railway station. The bus route is expected to benefit a large number of commuters from Gadhi Randhala, Savda, Ghevra, Mundka, and nearby areas, making their daily travel more convenient and accessible.
Speaking at the occasion, Transport Minister Shri Kailash Gahlot stated, "Public transportation is incredibly important for any city, serving as its backbone. In Delhi, around 43 lakh people rely on buses for their daily commute. Buses haven't been running on route number 928 from Gari Randhala village to Old Delhi Railway Station for quite some time. As soon as I found out about this, considering the needs of the people, I instructed that the service be resumed. With Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal leading the way, we are committed to providing Delhi residents with safe, comfortable, and world-class public transportation options, making their daily commutes hassle-free."

Route 928 spans a total length of 35.1 kilometers and will be serviced by a fleet of 5 buses, ensuring a frequency of service every 38 minutes. This route will be an important link, seamlessly connecting rural villages to major urban centers. It will serve as a lifeline for residents of Garhi Randhala, Nizampur, Sawda, Ghevra, and Mundka, providing essential access to industrial zones such as Peeragarhi and Nangloi. Notably, it will also facilitate convenient travel to Kashmere Gate ISBT, enabling effortless intercity commuting. Moreover, route 928 will enhance connectivity to Punjabi Bagh and strengthens access to the historic Old Delhi Railway Station. For commuters, this route will serve as a crucial bridge, ensuring seamless first and last-mile connectivity to nearby metro stations at Ghevra and Mundka.
Till date, the Delhi Government's fleet comprises 7582 buses, with 4441 operated by DTC and 3141 by Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS). Currently, 1,650 electric buses serve Delhi.
*Transport Minister inspects Savda-Ghevra depot*
Earlier today, Transport Minister of Delhi Shri Kailash Gahlot also conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing construction work at Savda Ghevra, where a state-of-the-art fully electric bus depot is being built. With an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 60 Crore, the depot is set to accommodate the forthcoming fleet of electric buses in Delhi. The construction expenses amount to nearly Rs. 30 crore, while the electrification costs shall be more than Rs. 30 crore. Equipped with charging facilities, this depot which is spread across 7.8 acres will have the capacity to park 200 electric buses, marking a significant step towards creating a modern, efficient, and sustainable public transportation system. During the inspection, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot emphasized the urgency of expediting the construction work, underscoring the need for timely completion.
