108 AMBULANCE EMPLOYEES' UNION ENDS STRIKE AFTER INTERVENTION OF HEALTH MINISTER DR BALBIR SINGH

CHANDIGARH, February 27:The 108 ambulance employees' union on Tuesday called off their strike following intervention of Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh,

The employees of ZHL (Outsourced company to provide emergency medical & ambulance services), were demanding reinstatement of ousted employees and annual increment in their wages. Although, ambulance services were functional uninterruptedly during the strike.

Dr Balbir Singh chaired a meeting with representatives of ZHL company and union members to amicably resolve all the issues and fulfil the long pending genuine demands of aggrieved employees. Managing Director Punjab Health System Corporation (PHSC) Varinder Kumar Sharma and Director PHSC Dr Anil Goyal were also present on the occasion.

“I have ordered to immediately reinstate 20 employees, who were ousted by the company. While, grievances redressal committee will be constituted,” said the Health Minister.

Dr Balbir Singh also directed the entrusted company to ensure annual increment of all the employees.

CHANDIGARH, February 27:Setting a stage for a dynamic collaboration that promises to further strengthen the healthcare facilities as desired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Health System Corporation (PHSC) and Hans Foundation Dehradun inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for providing free of cost dialysis facility to the needy patients in the state.

The MoU was signed between Nodal Officer for Dialysis Programme Dr Rupinder Singh Gill and Group Senior Manager from Hans Foundation Seema Singh in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh here on Tuesday. Managing Director PHSC Varinder Kumar Sharma and Director PHSC Dr Anil Goyal were also present on the occasion.

Dr Balbir Singh said that under this MOU the Hans Foundation will be providing trained medical officers and other staff, consumables, dialysis machines and RO plants to the department and will supervise the functioning of these centres.

“Initially, the foundation will establish dialysis centres at 10 Government Facilities and needy patients will be able to avail dialysis facilities at free of cost,” he said, while adding that more such dialysis facilities will be established in future.

Meanwhile, this initiative of the Punjab Government and Hans Foundation will not only provide free of cost dialysis facility to poor and needy patients but also reduce the travel distance.

VB ARRESTS KANUGO FOR DEMANDING RS 15,000 BRIBE

Chandigarh February 27 - The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state on Tuesday registered a case against a Patwari Jasbir Singh, Now Kanugo, posted at Dakha, Ludhiana district and a private person Gurpreet Singh, working as his Assistant, for demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000. In this case Jasvir Singh Kanugo has been arrested and efforts were being made to arrest another co-accused Gurpreet Singh.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said this case has been registered on an online complaint lodged by Harnek Singh Sekhon, a resident of village Chhapar, Ludhiana district on Chief Minister Anti Corruption Action line.

He further added that the complainant has alleged that both the above mentioned accused had demanded Rs 20,000 as a bribe in lieu of entering mutation of his land.

During verification it was found that the associate of Patwari, Gurpreet Singh, has demanded Rs 20,000 but when complainant discussed with Patwari he reduced the bribe amount to Rs 15,000.

The complainant had recorded the conversation taken place between him, Gurpreet Singh and Patwari Jasvir Singh in his mobile phone. Previously the complainant had made viral the recording of conversation regarding demand of bribe raised by Patwari and his accomplice Gurpreet Singh on social media so that department would take action against them but no action was taken in this regard so far.

The spokesperson informed that thereafter, the complainant lodged the present complaint on anti corruption action-line. During investigation of this case, the voice recording of both suspects and complainant has been got compared from forensic science laboratory (FSL) by the VB Ludhiana range which was found matched and allegations proved to be true.

On the basis of this enquiry a FIR No 09 dated 27.02. 2024 under sections 7, 7-A of Prevention of Corruption Act and 120-B of IPC has been registered against Kanugo and his associate. Accused Jasvir Singh Kanugo would be produced in court tomorrow and role of other officers/officials would also be examined during the probe, he added.

EDUCATION MINISTER HARJOT SINGH BAINS DISTRIBUTES 'BEST SCHOOL AWARD' WORTH RS 5.17 CRORES TO 69 SCHOOLS

Chandigarh, February 27:School education Minister Punjab, Harjot Singh Bains distributed the 'Best School Award' amount of Rs 5.17 crores to 69 schools of Punjab.

During the event Schools from senior secondary, high and middle school category from each district of the state, was given cash prize worth rupees 10 lakh, 7.5 lakh and 5 lakh respectively.

These government schools of the state has been selected from each district on the basis of academic and co-educational parameters.

Speaking on this occasion, the School Education Minister said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan is continuously striving to make the government schools of the state the best.

VIGILANCE BUREAU NABS PATWARI FOR TAKING RS 4,000 BRIBE IN TWO INSTALLMENTS

Chandigarh February 27 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign, on Tuesday has nabbed a revenue Patwari Shubam Bansal, posted at tehsil office, Gidarbaha-2, Sri Muktsar Sahib district red handed for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said this case has been registered against the above said revenue official on the complaint of Darshan Singh, a resident village Pueri in tehsil Gidarbaha.

Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said Patwari has already taken Rs 2,000 as a bribe in the morning in lieu of mutation of his land and demanding the remaining balance of bribe in the evening.

The spokesperson further added that the VB unit of Bathinda range has investigated the allegations levelled in the complaint and laid a trap in which the accused Patwari has been arrested red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. The VB team recovered the bribe money of Rs 4,000 from the possession of accused on the spot.

In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered at VB police station Bathinda range against the above mentioned revenue official. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he informed.

PUNJAB TO OPEN 12 MORE PUBLIC MINING SITES FOR EASY AVAILABILITY OF SAND ON AFFORDABLE RATES

Chandigarh, February 27:To ensure the easy availability of sand on cheaper rates in the state, Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government has decided to open 12 more Public Mining Sites (PMS) in various districts.

The official spokesperson today informed that Punjab Mining and Geology Minister S. Chetan Singh Jauramajra will dedicate 12 new public mining sites under 4th and 5th Phase in five districts namely, Ferozepur, SBS Nagar, Amritsar, Moga and Jalandhar on February 28.

Notably, public mining sites has been wholeheartedly welcomed by the general public and a total 60 PMS are currently operational in various districts. Collectively, 15.90 Lakh Metric tonnes of sand has been extracted at Rs.5.50/cft by the general public till date, which shows the remarkable success of this initiative all in itself.

The motive of this ambitious initiative of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is to provide sand to the public at cheaper rates.

"Now, with the inauguration of new public mining sites, identified by the Department of Mines and Geology, the total number of sites would be increased to 72 PMS, thus enhancing these benefits for the general public even more.

He further said that these public mining sites will allow public at large to excavate and sell the sand on their own resulting into increase the supply of sand in the market which will further leads to decrease in market rates of sand.

It is worthwhile to mention here that first three phases of these Public Mining Sites in ten districts have already been inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Punjab to ensure the availability of sand at affordable rates to public at large.

Chandigarh, February 27:Punjab Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Verma on Tuesday asked the officers to immediately complete the ongoing development works near International Cricket Stadium Mullanpur, New Chandigarh for sprucing it up for the upcoming Indian Premier League matches.

Chief Secretary Mr. Verma presided over a review meeting here today with officials of PUDA, GMADA and representatives of Punjab Cricket Association to review the progress of ongoing engineering and civil works near Mullanpur Cricket Stadium.

The Chief Secretary said that the Cricket stadium will act as a catalyst for the development of the entire region. He said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Maan is committed to provide the best and suitable infrastructure for sports in the state. Mr Anurag Verma said that top priority should be accorded to completion of the ongoing works before the cricket match adding that he will personally monitor the progress of work on daily basis.

The Chief Secretary said that on one hand the Punjab government is making concerted efforts to promote sports culture and on the other it is also giving top priority to the development of cities. He said that with the holding of matches at this new International Cricket Stadium, the development of this area will be get further impetus. Mr Anurag Verma underscored that construction of approach roads and bridges leading to this stadium should be completed without any delay adding that any sort of delay is unwarranted and undesirable.

VIGILANCE BUREAU NABS FOOD & CIVIL SUPPLIES INSPECTOR FOR SEEKING RS. 90,000 BRIBE

Chandigarh February 27 - The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state on Tuesday apprehended Amandeep Gupta, Inspector, Food & Civil Supplies Department, Punjab for demanding a bribe of Rs 90,000.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned accused has been arrested following a complaint lodged by Jarnail Singh, a resident of Diamond Tower, Kharar, SAS Nagar district on the Chief Minister Anti Corruption Action Line.

He further informed that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that the said accused has been demanding a bribe of Rs. 90,000 in lieu of renewal of licence and change of ownership of the brickkiln purchased by him. The complainant further added that earlier Chaman Gupta, the then Inspector, Food & Civil Supplies, Rupnagar had taken Rs. 30000 from him and his brother Harjit Singh for the same work but he had been transferred to district SBS Nagar.

The spokesperson informed that during investigation of this complaint the VB has found the allegations made in the complaint as true and correct.

In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered at police station VB Ludhiana range and the accused has been registered. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress.
