One arrested under NDPS Act

Chandigarh Police arrested Arshdeep Singh R/o Vill- Sangrahoor Distt- Faridkot (Pb) (age-22 years) and recovered 20 gm heroin from his possession near Govt. School Sec-23/A, Chandigarh on 11.02.2024. A case FIR No. 11 U/S 21 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

One arrested in theft case

A lady (age-30 yrs) resident of Kharar (Pb) reported that unknown person who stole away complainant mobile phone from Shastri Market Sector-22, Chandigarh on 11-02-2024. A case FIR No. 10 U/S 379 IPC added 411 IPC has been registered in PS-17 UT Chandigarh. Later on accused person Suraj Kumar R/o Vill- Babupur Distt- Sahibgaing (Jharkhand) (age-27 years) has been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Burglary

A lady resident of Hallo Majra, UT Chandigarh reported that unknown person who stole away complainant ear ring, one gold bangle, 2 gold ring and 2 mobile phone after broken the lock of her house from 05-11-2023 to 11-02-2024. Later on accused person Narinder Kumar @ Mannu R/o # 2888, Sec-20/C, Chandigarh (age-35 years) has been arrested. A case FIR No. 22, U/S 380, 457 IPC has been registered in PS-31, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Chandigarh Traffic Police is observing 35th National Road Safety Month, 2024 from 15th January to 14th February, 2024

Chandigarh Traffic Police is observing 35th National Road Safety Month, 2024 from 15th January to 14th February, 2024. On this occasion, Today the Road Safety Awareness Cell of Chandigarh Traffic Police conducted the Road Safety AwarenessSessionat DAV College Sector 10, Chandigarh for the students. Total 160NSS students( BA 1st, BA 2nd& BA 3rd)&03Professors attended the session.Besidesthis, one day refresher Course for Drivers whose Driving Licence was suspended in various traffic violations was also conducted at Children Traffic Park, Sector 23, CHD. Total 15 driversattended this session. During the session,awareness about the provisions of Motor Vehicle Driving Regulation 2017, Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act 2019 and CMVR1989. Special emphasis was given on safety gadgets i.e. safety headgear (helmet), seatbelts and to act as a good Samaritan which helps in saving precious human lives especially the victims of a road crash. Furthermore during this programme, they have been made aware about various road safety issues alongwith Impact and Importance of variousimportant issuesfortheirown safetyas well asforthe safety of other road users which is as under:-

 Importance and Impact of wearing of safety Headgear “HELMET” of Good quality of ISI Mark and Beaureau of Indian Standards (BIS) quality by two wheeler driver and pillion rider above the age of 04 years as it protect the Head from Head Injuries in road crashes and save precious humane life.

 The traffic violators of dangerous driving traffic violations ie driving without Helmet/pillion rider without Helmet, tripple riding, red light jumping and drunken driving whose Driving Licence has been seized for suspension were advised not to indulging in dangerous driving Traffic violations.

 Students were also advised to use the cycle track and refrain from engaging in underage driving.

 Importance and Impact of rear view Mirror before Lane Changing, turning Right and Left to avoid Collision and for one’s own safety and safety of other road users.

 “Red Signal On, Engine Off” to save Environment from vehicular pollution and to save fuel.

 Impact and usage of Mobile phone by Motor Vehicle driver, Cyclist and Pedestrian which causes distraction and result into road crashes or any other untoward incidents.

 Importance and Impact of wearing seat belt by LMV user ie driver, front co-passenger and rear seat passengers and by drivers/co-passenger of Medium, Heavy Goods/Passenger vehicles which protects the person wearing Seat Belt from severe bodily injuries.

 Importance of Road Signages & Road Markings and Traffic light signals.

 Impact of Drunken driving.

 Importance of pedestrian Zebra crossing.

 Unnecessary honking and its effect.

 Give wayTo Emergency Vehicles i.e Ambulance, fire bridge and Police (PCR) Vehicles.

 Importance and Impact of Lane Driving causes “Lane Driving is Sane Driving” and Lane Driving avoid traffic congestion and stream line of traffic flow.

A pledge was also administered to all the participants to follow& obey the traffic rules and regulations for their own safety and safety for other road users and to enact as a good Samaritan to help the road crash victims at the spot and to ferry road crash victims to nearby Hospital to save the precious life.
