EALTH MINISTER TO LAUNCH 3-DAY PULSE POLIO CAMPAIGN FOR 12 DISTRICTS FROM SBS NAGAR TODAY

— DR BALBIR SINGH DIRECTS OFFICIALS TO ADMINISTER POLIO DROPS TO ALL CHILDREN AGED 5 YEARS

— HEALTH DEPARTMENT HAS A TARGET TO COVER OVER 14 LAKH CHILDREN

Chandigarh, May 27:To keep the state safe from wild Polio virus, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh will launch a three-day Polio immunization campaign from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district on Sunday. The pulse polio round for the year 2023 will be conducted from May 28 to May 30 in 12 districts of Punjab.

Explaining the importance of the Polio vaccination campaign, Dr. Balbir Singh said that although no wild polio virus case has been reported since 2010 and last case of polio was reported in October 2009 in Ludhiana but still Punjab is at a high risk of polio virus importation from its neighbouring endemic countries especially Pakistan and Afghanistan. This is the reason Polio campaigns are being periodically undertaken in the state. The risk of importation of Polio virus assumes more significance as the highest number of polio cases in the last few years have been reported from the neighbouring country Pakistan, he added.

Transit teams are already established at Attari Border to ensure vaccination of individuals crossing the Indo-Pak border. Similarly, vaccination sites are established at Dera Baba Nanak, District Gurdaspur checkpoint on opening up of Kartarpur corridor, he informed.

Director Health Services (Family Welfare) Dr Ravinder Pal Kaur said this round will be conducted in 12 districts including Amritsar, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fazilka, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mansa, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Moga, Pathankot, Patiala, SBS Nagar and TarnTaran . Booths will be set up on the first day and house to house visits will be undertaken for the rest of the two days. The Health Department has a target to cover as many as 14,83,072 children aged five in this round.

For the successful execution of the campaign, she said that 7054 booths will be set up,13136 house to house teams, 334 Mobile Teams and 279 Transit Teams have been formed, besides deploying a total of 27109 vaccinators. 1335 supervisors will oversee the work of the vaccinators. The teams will also visit 5109 High Risk Areas which include

2107 Slums, 132 Construction sites 902 Nomadic sites, 132 Brick kilns and 729 other sites.

State Immunization Officer Dr. Balwinder Kaur informed that campaign activity in all 12 districts will be monitored by state observers from DHS office and NPSP-WHO monitors and guidelines of Covid appropriate behavior will also be followed by the vaccination teams.

CABINET MINISTER NIJJAR INAUGURATED THE ROAD FROM BHAKTANWALA TO MULECHAK

Chandigarh, May 27:The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is committed to providing basic facilities to the people of the state. To fulfill this objective, the government has introduced the facility of Aam Aadmi Clinics for the state's residents. Additionally, efforts have been made to improve the infrastructure of government schools and create new employment opportunities. Over the course of its 14-month tenure, the government has successfully provided more than 27,000 government jobs to the youth.

These words were expressed by Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar, Minister of Local Government, Punjab, after inaugurating the new road from Bhaktanwala to the village of Mulechak, which will be built at a cost of 70 lakh rupees. Dr Nijjar stated that this road had been in a very bad condition for a long time, causing significant difficulties for the residents, especially during rainy days. He mentioned that the construction of this road would provide immense relief to the general public.

On this occasion, the residents of the area expressed their gratitude to the minister, stating that they had been suffering from the poor condition of this road for many years. They believed that the construction of this road would greatly alleviate their difficulties.

Subsequently, Dr. Nijjar also reviewed the ongoing development works at Skatri Bagh. He instructed the relevant officials to complete the development work within the designated timeframe, emphasizing that no debris or soil should be left around the roads during the process. He stressed that no negligence would be tolerated in the development work and that the quality of the work should be ensured.

Dr. Nijjar emphasized that the funds allocated for these development works belong to the common people and should be utilized appropriately.

During the event, Constituency Central MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta, OSD Mr. Manpreet Singh, SDO Mr. Sandeep Singh, and officials from the Nagar Improvement Trust were also present.

IN A FIRST, ALL GOVT SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN SUNAM TO BE EQUIPPED WITH FUTURISTIC ROBOTIC LABS

• AMAN ARORA LAUNCHES PROJECT UNDER WHICH 18 ROBOTICS LABS AND 3 XR REALITY LABS TO BE SET UP

Chandigarh/Sunam, May 27:Achieving yet another milestone in the history of the Punjab school education which will enable students to enhance their creative thinking and problem-solving ability, all the 18 Government Senior Secondary Schools in Sunam Assembly constituency have been equipped with futuristic Robotic Labs, said Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr Aman Arora.

Mr Aman Arora, who was here on Saturday to inaugurate a Robotic Lab set up at Shaheed Udham Singh Government Senior Secondary School (Girls) at Sunam, also distributed the lab equipments to the remaining 17 senior secondary schools.

Apart from this, three XR Reality Labs with the help of German firm Myracle.10 are also being set up in Shaheed Udham Singh Schools (Girls) and (Boys) of Sunam and Shaheed Bhai Mati Das Senior Secondary School, Longowal.

“These futuristic Robotic Labs and XR Reality Labs will help pupils to get hands-on training in the latest technology areas such as robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), 3D Printing, Basics of Electronics and so on,” said Mr Aman Arora, while adding that this project will facilitate innovative ways to increase the knowledge skills of students through fun learning.

He said that Sunam probably is the first Assembly Constituency in the country to equip all the Government Senior Secondary Schools with these hi-tech and futuristic labs.

Mr Aman Arora said that Chief Minister S Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government is committed to revolutionise the education sector in state. Earlier, the state government had established “Schools of Eminence” (SoE) by upgrading 117 Government Senior Secondary Schools and had also sent school principals to Singapore for sharpening their professional teaching skills.

"Taking forward the commitment of the state government to impart world-class education to students, I undertook this initiative to set up Robotic Labs at all the Government Senior Secondary Schools in my constituency,” said Mr Aman Arora.

Meanwhile, Kurious Learning Lab will provide technical training and other support, if required, to the staff of these schools. They will also have access to Kurious Learning platform to keep ideating and innovating for solving problems around them.
