Khatkar Kalan, March 23:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday gave a clarion call to the people to extend fulsome support and cooperation to the state government for realising the dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
The Chief Minister, who paid floral tributes to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh here at his native village, said that this day reminds us of the supreme sacrifice made by this great hero at the altar of motherland. He said that the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev will ever inspire us to rise against any form of injustice, tyranny and oppression. Bhagwant Mann said that it is the moral duty of all of us to wage war against all form of social maladies prevailing in the society.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is leaving no stone unturned for cherishing the aspirations of the great martyrs. He said that the state government is duty bound to ensure the progress of the state and prosperity of its people. Bhagwant Mann said that the day is not far away when due to concerted efforts of the state government, Punjab will soon emerge as a front runner state across the country.
The Chief Minister said the state government is committed to cherish the aspirations of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and carve out a harmonious and egalitarian society. He said that the young hero of freedom struggle had sacrificed his life at a young age for emancipating the country from clutches of foreign imperialism. Mr Bhagwant Mann said that the state government will leave no stone unturned to cherish the aspiration of the iconic hero.
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab Vidhan Sabha had on Wednesday passed a resolution for carving out Punjab of dreams Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev. He bemoaned that even after passing of more than 75 years of independence the country is combatting issues like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and others. Bhagwant Mann said that his government has already made several efforts to give succour to people from these maladies.
The Chief Minister said that his government has already started a number of pro-people and development oriented schemes to give relief to people. He said that the sole aim is to carve out a society as envisioned by our great martyrs. Bhagwant Mann said that strenuous efforts will be continued until the desired goals are not achieved.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has decided to construct a heritage street here at the native village of Shaheed-e-Aazam Bhagat Singh to showcase the glorious contribution of Punjab and Punjabis in national freedom struggle. He said that this 850 metre long heritage street will be constructed from existing from Museum to the ancestral house at Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan. Bhagwant Mann said that this street will highlight the glorious contribution of the state national freedom struggle thereby inspiring the youth to work zealously for the country.
The chief minister also announced that a five D set-up of the court will be designed in the Shaheed Bhagat singh museum at Khatkar Kalan. He said that this five D creative will recreate the scene of proclaimation of death sentence to Shahed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh so that the visitors can have the first hand experience of that time. Bhagwant Mann said this will virtually take the visitors back to that era and perpetuate the supreme sacrifice made by this young hero for the country.
The Chief Minister said that he had already asked the Tourism and Culture department to set the wheels in motion for this project. He said that this land is sacred for all the Punjabis and its holistic development will be ensured by all means. Bhagwant Mann said that he had assumed the charge of his office after taking oath from this pious land.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister felicitated the family members of great martyr including Surinder kaur, Yadwinder singh, Pawandeep kaur,Manjit singh Dhaliwal, Satwant singh, Gurmail kaura, Kuldeep kaur, Harcharan singh and others with replica of museum and ancestral home. Earlier, Bhagwant Mann also paid tribute at Samadhi of late S Kishan Singh the father of martyr. He also paid floral tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh at his statue.

Ferozepur, March 23-Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday announced to give a complete facelift to Hussainiwala memorial to perpetuate the legacy of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
The Chief Minister, while interacting with media persons here today after paying to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev, said that this place is sacred for every countrymen as the mortal remains of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev after their martyrdom were cremated unceremoniously by the Britishers here. He said that this place has been inspiring the youth of the country for selfless service towards the nation. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is preparing a blue print for the comprehensive development of this place so as to facilitate thousands of pilgrims coming daily to offer their tributes to the martyrs.
The Chief Minister said that he is blessed to have visited this sacred land for paying tributes to the iconic martyr who laid down his life at the altar of the national freedom struggle. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government will leave stone no stone unturned for realising dram of Shaheed-e-Aazam Bhagat Singh. He said that the nation will always be indebted to this martyr who sacrificed his life at a young age of 23 years for emancipating the country from the clutches of British imperialism.
The Chief Minister also announced that the existing Technical University in Ferozepur will not be merged in any other university. He said that it will enable the youth of border district to become active partners in socio economic growth of the country by getting quality technical education. Bhagwant Mann said that the skill training opens new vistas of employment for the youth thereby checking the brain drain from the state.
The Chief Minister also said that this sacred place attracts tourism from across the globe who visit this place to pay homage to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev and Shaheed Rajguru. He said that to facilitate these people, the state government will soon construct a tent city at Hussainiwala for ensuring comfortable stay to people during their visit. Bhagwant Mann said that giving a complete facelift to the Hussainiwala museum is also in the pipeline and state government will soon finalise it.
The Chief Minister said that martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at a young age had motivated the youth to join national freedom struggle thereby leading to independence of the country. He said that Shaheed-e-Aazam will ever remain a source of inspiration for the millions of youth to render selfless service to the nation. Bhagwant Mann also called upon the youth to follow the footsteps of Shaheed Bhagat Singh to make India a progressive and prosperous country.
The Chief Minister also said that due to concerted efforts of the state, the Mohali airport has been named as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. He also said that soon a state of the art statue of the legendary martyr will also be installed near the airport. Bhagwant Mann said that this is a humble tribute to the great hero by the state government.
The Chief Minister also said that the state assembly has unanimously passed a resolution urging the Government of India to name Halwara International airport on name of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha. He said that the single motive is to ensure that the future generations are made aware of the supreme sacrifice made by these legendary heroes. Bhagwant Mann said that the successive governments have ignored the enormous contribution of these leaders but his government is committed to ensure that the glorious legacy of these heroes is perpetuated.
The Chief Minister also announced to develop Ferozepur into a major tourist hub in the country. He said that this border town has a lot of potential in tourism sector which has been hitherto remained untapped. However, Bhagwant Mann said that his government is committed for the overall development of this town to emerge it on the tourist map of the world.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of War Memorial to be constructed by BSF at the Joint Check post. He envisioned that this war memorial to be constructed at a cost of Rs 12 lakh will aptly showcase the glorious tradition of the BSF to safeguard the borders of the country. Bhagwant Mann also dedicated the souvenir shop at Hussainiwala opened by the district administration.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal holds review meeting on Punjab's new agriculture policy
- The new policy will be pro-farmer and beneficial for the progress of the state: Agriculture Minister
- Urges people to send suggestions till March 31
Chandigarh, March 23: Punjab Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal held a high-level review meeting regarding the new agricultural policy of the state at Punjab Bhawan here on Thursday. He discussed all aspects of the new agriculture policy with the team of top officials and experts of the agriculture sector. Eminent agronomist Dr. Gurdev Singh Khush and Dr. BS Gill were specially attended the meeting. Dr. Khush is an expert in developing rice varieties and Dr. Gill has extensive experience in developing wheat varieties and both scientists are renowned globally.
Speaking to reporters, Dhaliwal said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is working diligently on the new agriculture policy to make agriculture profitable. He said that after Independence, no government has focused on the welfare of farmers, especially on making agriculture a profitable occupation.
He said that today on the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh and his companions, they took an oath that no stone will be left unturned to build the Punjab of Bhagat Singh's dreams. He reiterated his commitment to make the state 'Rangla Punjab'.
The Agriculture Minister said that such a system will be created in the state that the youngsters won't migrate to foreign countries. On this occasion, he also appealed to the people to send their suggestions regarding the new agricultural policy by March 31.
He said that any Punjab resident can send their suggestions on WhatsApp number 75080-18998 or phone number 0172-2969340 or email farmercomm@punjabmail.gov.in. Apart from this, suggestions can also be sent by letter to the address of Punjab State Farmers Commission, Airport Road, Mohali.
He said that the Punjab government stands with the farmers and it is their responsibility to come up with good, solid and meaningful policies for the agriculture of the state. Dhaliwal hoped that the people of Punjab could get a new agricultural policy by the end of June this year. He said that the new agricultural policy is being prepared keeping in mind the geographical situation of Punjab, soil health, availability of crops and water. Moreover, people's suggestions will also be considered, he added.
Dhaliwal expressed concern that due to the irresponsible attitude and wrong policies of the previous governments, Punjab's clean water, clean air and environment and healthy fertile land are now turning into polluted water, poisonous air and non-fertile land. He said that this phenomenon will now be changed with clear policy and intention.
He said that agriculture is not just a business, it is an issue related to life. The agriculture minister stressed the need to eradicate the insecurity in agriculture and said that the state government will move forward with the support of all in the direction of saving agriculture. Keeping Punjab's crops, water and soil and environment at the center, he said that the state government is making all possible efforts to make the agriculture a lucrative sector by taking valuable suggestions from agricultural experts, agronomists and others.
