He discussed the issue in detail and made significant decisions to resolve the problem. The Chief Minister's efforts to address these issues are a step towards making Delhi a safer and more compassionate city for humans and animals alike. He has directed officials to prepare a detailed plan of action on the issue of stray dogs and cows, demonstrating his commitment to resolving this problem in a timely and effective manner. Alongside the action plan, the CM has directed the officials to take up 100% sterilisation and 100% anti-rabies vaccination of dogs on priority. To further improve the situation, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal has decided to build another Gaushala in Delhi. This will increase the total number of Gaushalas in the city to five, providing a better facility to look after stray cows. *It is clear in the DJB report that the water in the bottles was not of Yamuna, but black matter mixed with the drinking water – Ram Niwas Goel
*Opposition members created unnecessary sensationalism and misled the House, tried to create panic among the people of Delhi - Ram Niwas Goel
*Committee of Privileges should investigate and present the report on who all were involved in this matter, from where the water was brought- Ram Niwas Goel
*Vidhansabha Speaker directs Privileges Committee to submit the report within a month
NEW DELHI: 20TH MARCH 2023-Delhi Assembly Speaker Shri Ram Niwas Goel termed the issue of BJP lawmakers bringing polluted water into the assembly and claiming it to be Yamuna river water as sensationalism on Monday. He directed the Legislative Assembly's Committee on Privileges to submit a report within a month on this issue. He stated that a report by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had rejected the claims made by the BJP MLAs and also stated that the water brought by them is not from the Yamuna river. The Speaker further stated that the opposition members unnecessarily created sensationalism and misled the house, causing panic among the people of Delhi. The special committee will investigate who was involved in this matter and where the water was brought from. The committee has to submit its report within a month.
During the Delhi Assembly session in January, BJP MLAs had brought contaminated water in bottles to the House, in an attempt to corner the Delhi government on the issue of water supply. They had alleged that this was contaminated water from the river Yamuna. By showing these bottles, the BJP MLAs had made false allegations on the issue of water supply in Delhi. The Speaker of the Assembly had thereupon ordered an investigation of the water sample. But now a report of the Jal Board has revealed that that water was not from the Yamuna.
In the budget session, Assembly Speaker Shri Ram Niwas Goel said that it has been clearly stated in the report of the Delhi Jal Board that the water in the bottles was not from River Yamuna. Rather it was drinking water with some black substance mixed in it. This is a very serious matter. “I fail to understand what is achieved by creating unnecessary sensationalism among the members of the opposition and by misleading the House. The members of the opposition have tried to spread panic and unrest among the people of Delhi.”
He said that he is very sad that this prestigious House was misused for this work, and said that the entire matter would be handed over to the Committee of Privileges to present a detailed report regarding the conduct of the MLAs who brought and displayed the water bottles on 18 January 202, in violation of the rules in the House. The Committee should report on all those who were involved in the matter and from where the water was brought. At the same time, the Committee is to give a report within a month regarding the delay in the report given by the officials of Delhi Jal Board.
