The ceremony was also attended by Education Minister Ms Atishi, Delhi Vidhan Sabha Dy Speaker Smt Rakhi Birla and senior officials of the Education Department. The School of Specialized Excellence is a state-of-the-art facility that will be offering two specialisations- STEM and High End 21st Century skills from the academic session 2023-24. A total of 400 students will be enrolled in the two specialised courses over here. For the academic session 2023-24, for nearly 4,400 seats in ASoSE, the Delhi Government has received 92,000 applications. Admission results of the first round of admission will be declared by next week and final admission will start from 14th April 2023, the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R Ambedkar. The school has been built on a total plot area of 8631 square metres and has a total of 127 equivalent classrooms, which comprise of 50 classrooms, 10 Labs, 2 Libraries, 1 Multipurpose hall, 15 staff rooms, 30 toilets, 6 stair cases and 1 lift.
The NCC band welcomed CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, who arrived as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of Ambedkar School of Specialized Excellence. Shri Arvind Kejriwal unveiled the name plaque and then went to see the new classroom and chemistry lab built on the ground floor. Then he reached the first floor, where he took stock of the Physics Lab. After this he reached the multi-purpose hall on the second floor and started the school inauguration program by lighting the lamp.
Shri Arvind Kejriwal applauded the school and said that it is truly an incredible school and went on to say that it will be one of the best schools in the country, including all private schools. He added that in terms of the facilities offered over here, this school will be better than private schools such as DPS, Goenka School, Modern School and so on. He said that the students who will eventually study here will be very proud of the school in which they are studying.
He said that there was a time when the students studying in government schools felt embarrassed about where they were studying, but now these students say with pride that they are studying in a government school. He added that the School of Specialized Excellence was an experiment run by the Delhi Government and it has been extremely successful. Over here, the students are trained in special subjects from Class 9 onwards.
The Delhi CM proudly added that there are 37 such schools in Delhi. “It gives me immense pleasure in saying that there are 37 such School of Specialized Excellence in Delhi and for nearly 4,400 seats in these schools, the Delhi Government has received 92,000 applications. Such a long list of applications is not received by even DPS, Modern School and other private schools in Delhi,” he said. He informed the students present at the occasion that they should feel immense pride in getting admission in such a school.
The Delhi CM said that while entering the school, he faced a protest from some people at the gate of the school and said that the children of these people will also be very proud to get an admission in school such as this. He wondered why these people were protesting outside a school and said that the school will be open to all children and their parents could be from any political background. He said that people have the right to protest, but why do it in front of a school. He also told the principal and the teachers of the school to welcome the students of these protesters with flowers if the kids manage to get an admission over here.
Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that a few days ago some students met him and said that they miss Manish Chacha very much and the children also said that they are aware that fake cases have been filed against him. Some of the teachers of government schools also told the same to the Delhi CM. He read out a message from Shri Manish Sisodia to the children of Delhi and said that their Manish chacha wants the kids to only focus on their studies. He added that although the senior AAP leader is held in jail, all he worries about is the studies and the future of the children of Delhi.
He added that at some point in life God tests every individual, and that this imprisonment on fake charges is nothing but a test of Shri Manish Sisodia. "Our Gods even took the test of Raja Satyawadi Harishchandra. He had a massive kingdom and all the wealth in the world, but the Gods snatched that away from him to test him. His son died and when his wife went to the cremation ground to cremate him, she did not even have money for the wood. So, even someone like a king was tested by the Gods. So, similarly Manish Sisodia is being tested by the Gods and I am certain that he will get 10 out of 10 in this test, and he will surely be out of jail soon."
The CM concluded by asking the children if they prayed every morning. He urged them to pray for the well-being of Shri Manish Sisodia in their morning prayers everyday and said that the former Education Minister of Delhi will come out of jail very soon.
Education Minister Ms Atishi, said that it is a sad truth in our country that even after 75 years of independence, a child's future is still determined by the family they are born into. She further added that when a child from a wealthy family is admitted to an expensive private school, it seems as if their future is bright and they will do something good when they grow up. However, the bitter truth is that many parents in the country send their children to government schools with heavy hearts.
She said that there are many students in this country who face great difficulties in completing their 12th grade education while studying in government schools. She said that children studying in government schools across the country must have an opportunity to fulfil their dreams by studying and schools must provide such opportunities to them.
She said that if any work is being done for the better future of children in the country today, then it is in the national capital Delhi, where under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the schools of the Delhi government are being made excellent. She said that Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal has only one dream, that the kind of education they wanted for their children, and they got it, that same education should be given to every child in Delhi and the country. "We are proud that in the last 8 years, our government has worked seriously on this and provided opportunities for the better future of children in Delhi," she said.
The Education Minister said that the atmosphere in Delhi has changed today regarding education. Today, not only the children of rich families go to IIT and medical colleges, but also the children of Delhi government schools are going in large numbers every year by clearing the IITs and medical entrance exams to study in the premier engineering and medical colleges of the country. She said that today the dream of the Chief Minister to provide excellent education to children from all socio economic backgrounds in Delhi is being fulfilled. The best example for this is the son of a DTC bus conductor, Prince Kumar who studied in a government school in Delhi and now has got into IIT Mumbai, while the son of a security guard has got into IIT Kharagpur.
The opening of BR Ambedkar School of Specialised Excellence in Sector-18 of Rohini brought about immense happiness among the people of the area. Many locals reached the school to thank the CM. People thanked CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and said that with the start of School of Specialised Excellence, children will get world class education.

NEW DELHI : 19TH MARCH 2023-Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal is considering providing relief to traders in Local Shopping Centers (LSC) who have been subjected to illegal conversion and parking charges by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Today, CM Arvind Kejriwal met with the traders of nearly 500 shops that were sealed for non-payment of illegal conversion and parking fees in Local Shopping Centers (LSC). During the meeting, traders raised the issue of nearly 500 shops that were sealed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for illegal conversion and non-payment of parking charges. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal stated that a solution will be found soon with the traders. He instructed the Urban Development Minister, Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj, and MCD Mayor, Dr Shelly Oberoi, to resolve the issue at the earliest. The CM also assured that a solution would be promptly found for the markets currently undergoing sealing. According to Delhi's Urban Development Minister, Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj, the MCD has been serving notices to the market for conversion and parking charges for a few years, which amounted to lakhs of rupees, and consequently, many shops were sealed.
The Local Shopping Center (LSC) Federation President, Shri Rajesh Goyal, and General Secretary, Shri Vishal Ohri, represented 106 market associations and joined the traders in the meeting today with CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Minister Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj at the CM's residence in Civil Lines. The traders apprised them of the problem of the sealing of commercial shops. LSC Federation President Shri Rajesh Goyal stated that they had bought commercial space that was many times more expensive to avoid doing business from home. They were first charged a hefty conversion fee, and even after the BJP promised that the conversion fee would not have to be paid by commercial shops, the battle continued.
LSC Federation General Secretary Shri Vishal Ohri mentioned around 500 shops have been sealed for five years. He told CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal that with the cooperation of MCD, their shops can be opened. Due to the previous BJP government in the MCD, traders suffered a loss of Rs 5,000 crore.
After hearing the traders' concerns, Shri Arvind Kejriwal assured them that a decision would be taken within a few days. He stated that for several years, over 500 shops belonging to these businessmen had been sealed. He instructed Urban Development Minister Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj and MCD Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi to solve the problems of all the traders at the earliest. He also said that a solution will also be found for the ongoing sealing of markets in due time, and it will be ensured that their shops can obtain legal status by paying reasonable prices. This will prevent them from being exploited in the future, and MCD will not be able to harass them for conversion and parking charges.
UD Minister Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj added that there are big markets in Delhi, including the ones in Greater Kailash, South Ex, Defence Colony, Kirti Nagar, Green Park, Priya Cinema Market, etc. These are called Local Shopping Centers (LSC) in Delhi. A few years back, the MCD started serving notices to the market for conversion and parking charges that ran into lakhs of rupees. It was not easy for any shopkeeper to give such a substantial amount of money. Due to those notices, MCD sealed the operational shops, and many shopkeepers were seen crying in the videos and pictures that surfaced in 2018. MCD illegally sealed the market by bullying the traders. Even today, most of the shops in Defence Colony are sealed. Around 500 shops have been sealed by MCD all over Delhi.
This decision will bring relief to the traders of Local Shopping Centers (LSC) in Delhi, who have suffered a significant financial loss due to the sealing of their shops. The government is committed to resolving this issue at the earliest, and the traders will be notified of the solution soon.
Traders informed Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal that the MCD and the Delhi government have suffered a loss of about five thousand crores due to the sealing. The MCD did not earn any house tax from the sealed shops. Apart from this, the government did not get GST from there. While MCD managed to recover Rs 80 crore out of Rs 120 crore, thousands of crores of revenue has been lost by the civic agency.
Sharing details about the meeting, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, "For the last several years, more than 500 shops of all these traders have been sealed; I have instructed UD Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj and MCD Mayor Shelly Oberoi to solve the problems of all these traders as soon as possible."
While, Urban Development Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj tweeted, "Got directions from CM Arvind Kejriwal to resolve the issue of sealing in Local Shopping Centres like Def Col Mkt, GK1 & 2 Mkt, South Ex, Green Park, Vasant Lok Priya, Kirti Nagar , Meharchand Mkt. Soon we will start working on de-sealing of 500+ shops in LSCs."
