CHANDIGARH, 17.03.23-In a sterling display of the fine blend of sporting acumen and spirit of sportsmanship coupled with fun and frolic, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, held its Annual Sports Day.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava motivated the staff and students with her presence as the Chief Guest. Release of tricolor balloons to spread the message of sovereignty, peace and harmony, and hoisting of flag by Dr. Nisha Bhargava marked the beginning of the eventful day. Dr. Bhargava inspired the audience with her words on the paramount importance of sports in life that includes imparting valuable lessons in spirit of life, discipline, alertness, team work and camaraderie. Recounting the outstanding achievements of the college in sports including accolades in various sports events at international, national, inter-zonal, zonal, university and inter-college levels, she congratulated the Physical Education Department of the college for keeping alive the MCM tradition of excellence.
Zealous contingents marched diligently during the March past ceremony demonstrating the glory and zenith of the institution. The college sports ground resonated with energetic vibes of sportsmanship and teamwork as students and staff competed in various events including 100m race, Long jump, Shot put, 100 m relay race, and Spoon and lemon race (for students), and Tug of war, 3 legged race, Musical chairs and 100m race (for staff). The event culminated with a prize distribution ceremony. Himanshika was adjudged Best athlete and the Physical Education Contingent was declared the Best Contingent .
