Chandigarh Police arrested Akshit Kashyap R/o Village Tiangri, P.O. Surajpur Bari, Sarkaghat Distt. Mandi (HP) (age-21 yrs). and recovered 120 grams of churs from his possession, near public toilet, Sector-22A, Chandigarh on 28.01.2023. A case FIR No. 16 U/S 20 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Accident

A case FIR No. 04, U/S 279 IPC has been registered in PS-03 Chandigarh on the complaint of a lady resident of Sector-16, Chandigarh who alleged that unknown driver of fortuner car no. PB-08EV-6262 who try to hit the pedestrian complainant near Matka Chowk on 05-01-2023, no any injured, later on accused namely Jaideep Singh R/o # 163 SG Garden Majitha Road Amritsar (Pb) (Age-29 yrs) has been arrested and bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 14 U/S 279, 337 IPC and 185 MV Act has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh on the statement of Parteek R/o # 314, Sector-7, Gohana, Distt. Sonipat (Hry), who reported that Nitin R/o Village Mundlana, Distt. Sonipat (Hry) (age-18 yrs). Driver of car no HR-80D-1201 which driving car rashly and car collide with divider at near press light point on dated 28-01-2023. Accused arrested and later on bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 10, U/S 287, 336, 304-A IPC has been registered in PS-Ind. Area, Chandigarh on the statement of a lady resident of Distt. Mohali (Pb) who alleged that Narindejit Singh owner of CMPL Automobile Plot No. 52, Ind. Area, Phase-1, Chandigarh who pressurized her husband namely Satish Kumar to sit in overloaded service lift on dated 31-12-2022, lift was broken her husband sustained injuries and got expired during treatment in Eden Hospital, Phase-1, Ind. Area, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Burglary

Phuvnesh Chander R/o SCO No. 1100-1101, 2nd Floor, Sec-22B, Chandigarh reported that unknown person who stole away one dell laptop, one mobile phone, one cheque book, cash 5000/-, hard disc 6, cordless phone, vision 4 CH DVR MP, 2 bullet camras and other items from his office on night intervening on 22/23-01-2022. A case FIR No. 15, U/S 380, 457 IPC has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Snatching

A lady resident of Sector-38/A, Chandigarh reported that two riders of unknown motor cycle which snatched away complainant’s mobile phone at Sector-40/41 light point on dated 28-01-2023. A case FIR No. 13, U/S 379A, 34 IPC has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A lady resident of Sector-25, Chandigarh reported that two riders of unknown motor cycle which snatched away complainant’s mobile phone at Sector-37/38 dividing road on dated 28-01-2023. A case FIR No. 14, U/S 379A, 34 IPC has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Attempt to Cheat

A case FIR No. 05, U/S 420, 511 IPC has been registered in PS-03, Chandigarh on the complaint of Sh. Harshinderpal Singh Brar, State Project Director, School Education Administration, Sector-9, Chandigarh against unknown person regarding cheating in JBT exam on dated 10-12-2022. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Dowry

A case FIR No. 06 Dated 28-01-2023 U/S 406, 498-A IPC PS-Women has been registered on the complaint of a lady R/o Chandigarh against her husband R/o Distt. Kangra (HP) who harassed complainant on the pretext of demanding more dowry. Investigation of the case is in progress.

For this purpose Sh. Ketan Bansal, Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime under the supervision formed a special team of PS - Cyber Crime under the close guidance of Sh. A Venkatesh DSP/Cyber Crime headed by Sh. Ranjit Singh, SHO, PS- Cyber Crime, in Case FIR No. 05 dated 18.01.2023 U/S 419, 420, 201, 467, 468, 120B IPC & 14 Foreign Act 1946, PS- Cyber Crime, UT, Chandigarh to apprehend the criminals involved in this crime. Accused Kelly & Accused Joshua Chima Kalu made whatsapp messages & calls as Doctor to complainant and also sent his fake Air Ticket to the complainant from Asmsterdam to Mumbai through Doha. He also sent money to Nigeria through money exchange. 2. Accused Prince and Pascal were working on the directions of main accused Kelly and helped him to commit the crime. Prince, Pascal & accused lady (wife of Prince) residing in same house. They tried to destroy/damage the mobile phone with the intention to destroy evidence. The broken mobile phone was recovered. Prince is also on interim bail in one of the NDPS case registered in Police Station – Mohan Garden, Dawarka, Delhi. 3. Accused Christian Anthony collected the fake bank accounts for fraud amounts and provide the same to Kely. It is also came on record that accused Christian Anthony @ Chris already has been arrested in FIR no. 192 dated 5.09.2020 U/S 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120 B IPC & 14 Foreign Act 1946 PS- IG Airport Delhi and Now he was on bail. 4. Accused lady played a role of mother & sister of accused Kelly to get the emotional benefit and committed cheating by indulged her with the cheated act of accused. She also helped accused Prince and Pascal to destroy the mobile phone with the intention to destroy evidence. The brief of the case are that PS- Cyber Crime received a complaint from victim lady in which she reported that she is Doctor from profession and was came in contact with Dr. Christopher through Christian Matrimony App. Dr. Christopher claimed that he is a doctor and working in Amsterdam, Nederland. They started chatting through Whatsapp and conversant with each other. They also discussed about their future and planned to marry. The complainant believed that on other side Dr. Christopher is a genuine person. In January - 2023 Dr. Christopher said he was landed on Mumbai Airport and they has a demand draft of 2,80,000 Euro. Mumbai Airport staff not released demand draft of 2,80,000 Euro without custom charges. She also received a call from mobile number and caller introduced himself as airport staff and said that to release this amount she had to pay custom charges and currency conversion charges etc. In this way Rs. 47,22,600/- was transferred by complainant from her bank account to the different alleged bank accounts in multiple transactions. The complainant also took loan from bank and her associates for said purpose. Latter on it came into her knowledge that they cheated with her. During the further course of investigation, a raid was conducted at Delhi and two accused namely (1) Prince and (2) Pascal were arrested and recovered two (02) mobile phones. During the raid, accused broken the mobile phone with the intension to destroy the evidence. The broken mobile phone was recovered which is same make & Model phone used in calling. So, the section 201 IPC also added in the case FIR. After that police remand was obtained from the Hon’ble Court of both the accused. Further after investigating other aspects, a raid was conducted in Noida and two accused namely 1). Kelly 2). Joshua Chima Kalu were arrested. Accused 1) Prince 2) Pascal & 3) Joshua Chima Kalu were sent to judicial custody by the Hon’ble court and police remand of accused Kelly S/o Christofer was obtained from the Hon’ble Court. Accused Kelly sent his fake Air Ticket to the complainant from Amsterdam to Mumbai through Doha. 04 accused except Pascal are staying in India even after the expire of Visa. So, the sections 467, 468 IPC & 14 Foreign Act have also been added in case FIR. During the further investigating and on the discloser statement of accused Kelly S/o Christofer, a raid was conducted along with accused Kelly and accused namely Christian Anthony Age 34 Years was arrested because he collected the fake bank accounts for fraud amounts. It is also came on record that another accused Christian Anthony @ Chris already has been arrested in FIR no. 192 dated 5.09.2020 U/S 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120 B IPC & 14 Foreign Act 1946 PS- IG Airport Delhi and Now he was on bail. Further, accused lady has been arrested. She play a role of mother & sister of accused Kelly to get the emotional benefit and committed cheating by indulged her with the cheated act of accused. Team of Chandigarh Police has arrested 06 persons (4 Nigerians, 1 Gunian and 01 Indian lady) with sincere efforts and hard work. 04 accused are staying in India even after the expire of Visa. The case has been work out and further investigation is going on. Modus Oprandi of Crime:- The cyber criminals registered themselves on matrimonial sites with the fake identity and represented themselves as Doctor & other professions. They started conversation with the innocent people available on matrimonial sites. During conversation they get emotional trust of innocent people.. Thereafter, victims are told that they are coming to India and bringing expensive gifts for them. They are detained at Airport by the custom authority. To get released, they want Indian currency to pay charges as Tax for the gift. Victim deposit huge amount. The following are some tips to be cyber safe:- 1. Do not trust the strangers on social media platforms i.e. Matrimonial Application, Facebook, Instagram etc. 2. Do not pay money without verifying the facts. 3. Do not meet with strangers at inaccessible places. 4. Always be vigilant when you are using social media platforms. 5. Do not accept friend requests from strangers on social networking sites. 6. Do not share your personal information such as address, phone number, date of birth etc. on social media. Cyber Criminals can use this information to create your fake account. 7. Do not share your sensitive personal photographs and videos on social media. 8. Do not share your future travel plans. 9. Report your complaint immediately at 1930.

Equestrian and tent pegging event was performed by Chandigarh Police Equestrian team. Sh. Dharampal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh and Sh. PraveerRanjan, IPS, DGP/UT, Chandigarh, Sh. R.K. Singh, IGP/UT, Sh. Deepak Purohit, DIG/UT, Ms. Manisha Chaudhary, SSP Traffic & Security, Sh. Manoj Kumar SSP/Headquarters, Sh. Ketan Bansal, SP/CCIC, were also present at the event
