Bathinda, January 26-The Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday said that with the strenuous efforts of the state government, the state will shine like the precious ‘Kohinoor’ gem during the current year by witnessing a holistic development in every arena.

Addressing the gathering here after unfurling the national tricolor during a function to mark Republic Day here at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Stadium, the Chief Minister gave a clarion call to people to extend fulsome support and cooperation to the state government. He urged the Punjabis residing across the globe to help the state government in restoring the pristine glory of the state. Bhagwant Mann vowed to take Punjab to new heights adding that the state government is committed to carve out an egalitarian society which our great martyrs and national leaders had envisioned.

The Chief Minister also said that as a colony of British Empire our country had suffered a lot but the brave and determined heroes of our freedom struggle made enormous sacrifices to remove the shackles of foreign imperialism. He said that is on record that more than 90% of the great patriots who laid down their lives or were subjected to British tyranny in one form or other were Punjabis. Bhagwant Mann said that a string of gems like Baba Ram Singh, Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru, Shaheed Sukhdev, Lala Lajpat Rai, Shaheed Udham Singh, Kartar Singh Sarabha, Diwan Singh Kalepani and many others, shed their blood to achieve an independent nation for us.

The Chief Minister asserted that even today Punjabis are at forefront to safeguard the borders of the country. He said that Punjabis led the nation from the front whenever India faced any challenge from internal or external aggression. It is a known fact that the hard working and resilient farmers of the state have played a crucial role in making the country self-reliant in food production, Bhagwant Mann added.

The Chief Minister bemoaned that even 75 years after Independence the dreams of our freedom fighters and great national heroes like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar remain unfulfilled. He said that people had high hopes from the successive governments that assumed power in the state through the decades after independence, but most served to dash these hopes because corruption, poverty, unemployment and many other ills are still deeply embedded in the state. Bhagwant Mann said that Aam Aadmi government which assumed the charge of office early this year has come like a breath of fresh air into Punjab as it is committed to fulfil the aspirations of people of the state.

The Chief Minister said that now the time has come when every Punjabi must come forward for making a ‘Rangla Punjab’. He said that Punjab is a blessed land and now the time has come to resurrect it for ushering a new era of progress and prosperity. Bhagwant Mann said that this will help in reversing the trend of brain drain by opening new vistas for youth within the state.

The Chief Minister asserted that service of the state and its people is ultimate aim of his life. Bhagwant Mann said that god forbids if he ever indulges in favoritism to his family or relatives then it will be the day of his death warrant. He said that every breath is dedicated for the progress of state and prosperity of its people.

The Chief Minister further said that after assuming the charge his government is making concerted efforts to restore the glory of state and cherish the aspirations of our great national leaders. He said that in mere first 10 months of its tenure the state government has fulfilled the major guarantees promised to people adding that top priority is being accorded to health, education and employment sectors. Bhagwant Mann said that so far 100 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been dedicated to the people and more than 400 more clinics are being opened on January 27 to provide quality health facilities to the people of Punjab.

The Chief Minister said that 16 new medical colleges are to being established across the state to emerge Punjab as a hub of medical education. He said that fulfilling the promise of Corruption free governance, the state government has started Anti Corruption Helpline on March 23 on the occasion of Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Similarly, Bhagwant Mann said that the guarantee of 300 units of free electricity per month has also been fulfilled since July 1 adding that 87% of the households in the state have zero electricity bill in the months of November-December, 2022.

The Chief Minister said that within the first few months of the formation of this government, more than 25,886 youths have been given appointment letters for government jobs and the entire recruitment has been done purely on the basis of merit and transparency. He said that it is for the first time that the process of filling 2100 posts in Punjab Police has been issued and it has been decided to fill 1800 posts of Constables and 300 Sub-inspectors every year in coming four years. Bhagwant Mann said that state government is laying major thrust on putting the state on high growth trajectory of industrial development to open new vistas of employment for youth.

The Chief Minister said that due to massive efforts of Punjab government, entrepreneurs are showing enthusiasm for investment in the state and till yet investment worth Rs. 27,000 Crore has been firmed up in Punjab thereby creating 1.25 lakh jobs for youth. He said that 117 Schools of Eminence have been set up in 23 districts of the state to provide quality education to children. Bhagwant Mann also announced that in a major decision the state government has decided to deliver the old age pension to the beneficiaries at their doorsteps.

Slamming the union government for deliberately excluding Punjab’s tableau from the Republic Day parade, the Chief Minister said that it reflects the myopic mindset of those in power at the centre. He said that celebration of any national day without showcasing the contribution of Punjab is unimaginable. Bhagwant Mann said that this discrimination with Punjab is totally unwarranted and undesirable.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced that in order to solve the traffic problem of Bathinda city an ultramodern bus stand will be constructed at the outskirts of the city. He also said that to facilitate the people shuttle bus service will be started to the city. Bhagwant Mann also said that Urban Estate VI will be constructed in Bathinda at a cost of Rs 260 crore.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inspected the parade led by parade commander Darpan Ahluwalia, IPS. He also took a salute from an impressive march past by contingents of Punjab Police, Punjab Home Guards, Punjab Armed Police, NCC Girls and Boys, Bharat Scouts and Guides besides the Punjab Police Brass band and other school bands. On the occasion, the students of various local schools presented a colorful variety program including Bhangra, Gidha, Group Dance, PT show and group singing.

The Chief Minister also felicitated Freedom fighters and their kin in recognition of their valuable contribution in the freedom struggle of the country

Chandigarh/SAS Nagar, January 26:Punjab Housing & Urban Development, Information & Public Relations, New & Renewable Energy Sources and Printing & Stationery Minister Mr. Aman Arora on Thursday unfurled the Indian Nation Flag at Shaheed Major Harminder Pal Singh Government College, Phase-6, SAS Nagar (Mohali) to mark the celebrations of 74th Republic Day.

Addressing the district level R-Day function, Mr. Aman Arora announced that Punjab Government has proposed to construct 25000 EWS Flats across the state and the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) will construct 5000 flats for economically weaker sections (EWS) in the city under first phase of the scheme to realise the dream of Chief Minister S Bhagwant Mann to ensure roof for all. These EWS housing scheme flats, to be constructed on 75 acres of land, will be launched soon.

Recalling the contribution of Baba Sahib Dr. BR Ambedkar and other distinguished members of the Constitution Drafting Committee, who had drafted the Constitution of India, Mr. Aman Arora said that on this day in 1950, the Indian Constitution came into force.

Highlighting the achievements of the state Government, the Cabinet Minister said that Mann Government is working in mission mode to achieve the goal of Rangla Punjab. Around 26000 government jobs have been provided to youth and the services of 9000 employees have been regularised in just 10 months after coming to power.

To Ensure the best possible healthcare services to the people as promised by the Aam Aadmi Party before the polls, he said that as many as 400 more Aam Aadmi Clinics will be launched tomorrow, taking the total count of these clinics to 500. 300 units of electricity per month is being provided free and over 90 per cent families have been receiving zero bills in the state. The state government has launched the 'School of Eminence' project to ensure quality education to children, under the project, 117 schools will come up across the state.

Mr Aman Arora said that the Housing and Urban Development department has taken various citizen-centric decisions including exempting 5773 villages from getting NOC prior to registration of revenue land in rural areas, delegating powers of regulatory approvals to special urban development authority level. Apart from this, regularisation of plots and buildings, change of ownership, and procuring NOCs, etc are now just a click away, that too in a mandated timeline, besides, introducing a facility for online submission and processing of applications on the regularisation portal for obtaining NOC in 15 working days. Powers for approval of Building Plans and grant of Completion Certificate of standalone industries including compounding of standalone industries, outside MC Limit, have been delegated to the Director of Factories so that the industrialists need not to apply at two separate departments for getting the Building Plans of their factories approved.

Special attention is being given for beautification, widening of roads and new roundabouts for Mohali, the model city of Punjab. Apart from this, GMADA has allocated four dedicated sites to the Municipal Corporation, SAS Nagar for developing market space, which will exclusively cater to street vendors of the city.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Minister inspected the parade. Punjab police personnel, NCC cadets and Band groups of various schools participated in March past. Cycle rally was also organised in which various sports persons participated and delivered the message for the creation of a healthy society. Various departments which include Health, Police, Agriculture, Forest, Verka, Employment Generation,Punjab Pollution Control Board and PSPCL presented their different schemes and achievements through the attractive tableaus.

Cultural programme was the major attraction in which students of various schools presented cultural items. Freedom fighters of village Jhajjon Gurdeep Singh and Sawarn Singh were honoured by the cabinet minister during the function. Freedom Fighter Kehar Singh of village Basman was honoured by the district administration at his residence.

During the function, the persons who had performed well in various fields were also honoured by the chief guest.

The District Administration also honoured the chief guest Mr. Aman Arora.

Chandigarh/Sangrur, January 26:Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Water Supply and Sanitation of Punjab Mr. Bram Shankar Sharma (Jimpa), after unfurling the national flag here at Police Lines Stadium Sangrur, said that in the first ten months, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, their government has successfully implemented historic decisions in the public interest. While divulging details, the cabinet minister said that over 25,000 government jobs have been given to youth, zero tolerance policy for the complete elimination of corruption, 300 units of free electricity per month to every household, Aam Aadmi Clinic to provide health facilities near homes etc. He added that by implementing one MLA one pension scheme, their government has saved public exchequer which was being use for the welfare of people.

The cabinet minister congratulated the residents of the country and Punjabis especially residents of Sangrur. He also congratulated the brave soldiers of the armed forces of the country who are protecting the integrity and unity of the country.

Jimpa said that today under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab is excelling in the fields of electricity, agriculture, education, law and order, civic services, infrastructure, urban development, comprehensive development of villages, health, creation of investment friendly environment and industry.

He said that he feel honoured to address the residents of CM Bhagwant Mann’s home district who is the most trusted and pro-people Chief Minister.

The Cabinet Minister said that a total of 500 Aam Aadmi Clinics will be dedicated to the people of Punjab on January 27 to provide better health facilities to the residents of the state. While highlighting the efforts to promote sports, he said that the sports department organised 'Khedan Watan Punjab Ki-2022' from the block to the state level in which about 3 lakh sportsmen participated and 9961 winners were bestowed prize money of Rs. 6.85 crore.

While talking about the schemes of the revenue department, he said that to make the allotment process effective and efficient, the Punjab Government has launched a website which will facilitate marking and ease of purchase and sale of land. He further said that the recruitment of 1090 new Patwaris has been completed for the purpose of streamlining the work of the Revenue Department and the Cabinet has given approval to fill up 710 more new posts of Patwaris. He added that soon pro-people reforms will be introduced in the revenue department and he was working diligently and with full dedication for the same.

Explaining another far-sighted step of the state government, the cabinet minister said that the government has decided to start 100 schools of eminence to make the school education of Punjab of international standard. He said that for the prosperity of Punjabi language, a campaign has been started to make it necessary for all boards to be written in Punjabi language till February 21, 2023 across the state.

Jimpa said, during his speech, that after independence, the Indian Constitution came into force on January 26, 1950 which honoured us of being one of the biggest democracies of the world. He said that today the contribution of Dr. Bheem Rao Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, cannot be ignored.

Earlier, the Cabinet Minister also paid tributes to the martyrs at the Police Memorial along with MLA Sangrur Narinder Kaur Bharaj, MLA Lehra Barinder Kumar Goyal. After unfurling the national flag at the stadium, he inspected the parade and took salute from various troops. Tableaus depicting important projects of the Punjab government also became a center of attraction.

During the event, the Cabinet Minister honoured the family members of the freedom fighters. After this, a program based on patriotism was presented by the students of different schools, which the audience thoroughly enjoyed. Folk dance Giddha performed by school girls became the center of special attraction.

After this, sewing machines were distributed to the needy and tricycles to the specially abled. On this occasion, he also felicitated personalities who have recorded commendable achievements in different fields in Sangrur district. The cabinet minister also declared a holiday on January 27 in those schools whose students had participated in today's event.
