Three arrested for consuming liquor at public place

Chandigarh Police arrested Mithlesh R/o # 119, Village, Burail, Sector-45 Chandigarh (age-19 yrs) and Santosh R/o # 2091-C, Small Flats Dhanas, Chandigarh (age 21 yrs) who were arrested while consuming liquor and creating nuisance at public place i.e. near SCO No. 90, Sec-44C, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 07, U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC has been registered in PS-34, Chandigarh. Later, they were bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Chandigarh Police arrested Imtiaz Ali R/o # 189, Sector-55, Chandigarh (age-29 yrs) who was arrested while consuming liquor and creating nuisance at a public place i.e. near a wine shop, Sector-55, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 09, U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Later, he was bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Case registered against persons failed to appear in Court

A case FIR No. 41 U/S 174-A IPC has been registered in PS-36, Chandigarh on the orders of the Hon’ble court of Sh. Tarun Kumar, JMIC UT, Chandigarh against a lady resident of Yamuna Nagar who was declared PO by the Hon’ble court. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 43 U/S 174-A IPC has been registered in PS-36, Chandigarh on the orders of the Hon’ble court of Sh. Tarun Kumar, JMIC UT, Chandigarh against Sandeep Arora R/o # 438, Rajiv Colony, Sector-17, Distt. Panchkula (Hry) who was declared PO by the Hon’ble court. Investigation of the case is in progress. Chandigarh Police achieved a major success by arresting two accused

Chandigarh Police achieved a major success by arresting two accused in different cases i.e. accused Munna Kumar Chaudhary S/o Lalan Chaudhary in case FIR No 08 dated 23.01.23 U/s 61-1-14 Excise Act PS-Ind. Area and recovered illicit liquor 236 Boxes of Royal Green Whisky, Another accused namely Shann S/o Matru, in case FIR No. 42 dated 22.01.2023 U/s 25/54/59 Arms Act PS-36 Chandigarh who had kept illegal weapon along with two live cartridges and he has also been declared Proclaimed Offender in previous cases by the Hon,ble court.

As per the directions of Senior Officers, teams headed by I/C DCC under the close supervision of DSP/DCC have been constituted to prevent the crime on the occasion forthcoming Republic Day Celebration. On 22.01.2023, HC Mangat Singh along with police party were on patrolling duty back side ISBT Sec.- 43 Chandigarh. At about 3.25 PM, when they reached near CTU workshop a person after seeing the police party turned back in opposite side and started to move briskly. On the suspicion he was apprehended with the help of Police Party and recovered one country made pistol along with two live cartridges. On asking the said person disclosed his name as Sharik @ Shann S/o Matur R/O H. No. 722/C Small Flats Dhanas Chd Age 34 yrs.

During further interrogation, it come to notice that accused has been declared as Proclaimed Offender in case FIR No. 160 dated 13.06.2012 U/S 324, 392, 506, 34 IPC, PS Sector 36, Chandigarh & FIR No. 115 Dated 30.04.2011 U/S 147, 148, 149 323, 325, 506, IPC, PS Sector 36, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 394 dt. 02.10.2015 U/s 323, 325, 64 IPC, PS-17 had also been registered against the accused.

During night on 23.01.2023, ASI Rajesh along with police Party has laid a Naka at Mandela Light Point. At about 04.45 AM, one truck No. HR-37D-1877 was seeing come towards police party and with the help of torch light, Police Party gave a signal to stop the truck. Then the driver of truck stopped and he was apprehended with the help of police officials. On the checking found that truck was loaded with the illicit liquor & other household items and after counting recovered 236 boxes (22656 point 90 ml each) of Royal Green Whisky illicit liquor as well as accused has been arrested. During preliminary interrogation accused disclosed that he supplied the illicit liquor at Bihar. It also came to notice that a dealer of liquor from Chandigarh is involved in this nexus.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR REPUBLIC DAY

Rehearsal for Republic Day- 2023 function shall be held on 24.1.2023 from 9:30 AM onwards at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh. Therefore, the general public is requested to avoid the following stretch of road from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM on 24.1.2023:-

1. From Punjab Raj Bhawan towards Sector 5-6/7-8 Chowk (Hira Singh Chowk), straight to 4/5-8/9 Chowk, straight to Sector 3/4-9/10 Chowk (New Barricade Chowk) right turn straight to Sector 1/3/4 Chowk (Old Barricade Chowk), left turn towards War Memorial, Bouganvilla Garden, Sector 3, Chandigarh.

2. From War Memorial, Bouganvilla Garden, Sector 3 towards Old Barricade Chowk, right turn towards Matka Chowk, straight to Sector 16/17 Light Point on Jan Marg, left turn towards Lyons Light Point, right turn towards Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh.

Road users are, therefore, advised to make use of alternative routes during the timings given above. Inconvenience caused to the general public on account of these restrictions is regretted. General public is requested to cooperate with the police.
