CHANDIGARH, 07 January 2023. A three-member delegation from France visited the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. The delegation included His Excellency Mr.Emmanuel LENAIN, Ambassador of France to India, Mr. Bertrand LORTHOLARY, Director General forAsia-Pacific, French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Emmanuel MOULIN, Director-General for the Treasury, French Ministry of Economy and Finance.Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh, welcomed all the dignitaries. Prof. Lal mentioned thatFrench architects Le Corbusier’s and Pierre Jeanneret designed several iconic buildings in the city,including the main building of PGIMER, known as Nehru Hospital. He also mentioned thetypical heritage furniture available in PGIMER, Chandigarh.

The delegation visited the Nehru Hospital, Main Library and Research Block A. They were impressed with the beam and open staircase design in Research Block A. The French delegation wasmesmerized to see that some of the heritage furniture is still being used in the main library. HisExcellency Mr. Emmanuel LENAIN, Ambassador of France, showed interest in cherishing the jointlegacy.
