ChandigarhOn- Oct 31, 2022, The National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Divas was centrally celebrated to pay tribute and commemorate the vision and contributions of the freedom fighter and the first home minister of India, Sri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary at Seminar Hall, CIL/SAIF, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

At the outset, Prof. (Dr.) Promila Pathak, Course Coordinator, gave welcome address and extended her warm and gracious welcome to Honourable Chief Guest Prof. (Dr) Raj Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, PU, Chd, Chair of the Session; Prof. Renu Vig, Guests of honour and others

In her address, Prof. Pathak talked about the relevance of the day in our country and the opportunity it provides to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to with stand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity, and security of our country.

Prof. (Dr.) Raj Kumar, Hon’ble VC in his Presidential address emphasized on the role of unity in our country and how it is extremely important for the younger generation of our country to realise the significance with which our beautiful country was created by our ancestors and how the struggle for freedom was fought.

Further, a collaborative pledge on peace and solidarity was taken which was initiated by Prof. Renu Vig, Madam DUI, Panjab University. Next, an audiovisual speech and a display of celebrated photographs of Sri Sardar Patel was played for the audience. Afterwards, Prof. Pathak introduced the Guest of honour, Dr. S.S. Goindi. Dr. Goindi stimulated the audience with his words of strength and encouragement.

The valedictory ceremony was closed with the singing of National Anthem.
