Chandigarh, May 30: Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that the media has played a crucial role in nation-building from the time of independence to the present day. Appreciating the dedication of media persons who base their writing on the national interest, he said that freedom of the media is a pillar of a strong democracy and reflects the positive vision of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi.
The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the annual convention of the Haryana Union of Working Journalists, held on Friday in Rohtak.
On the occasion of Hindi Patrakarita Diwas (Hindi Journalism Day), he extended his congratulations and best wishes to all media persons and saluted the "sentinels of the pen." Haryana Education Minister Sh Mahipal Dhanda, former Minister Sh Manish Grover, and Baba Kapilpuri Ji Maharaj were present as special guests. The Chief Minister formally inaugurated the convention by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Sh Nayab Singh Saini, while addressing the media persons who are performing the duty of journalism being a descendant of Maharishi Narad Muni, said that this day also holds spiritual significance as a time to pay tribute to the martyrdom of the fifth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, who sacrificed his life to protect religion. He also paid homage to Arut Ji Maharaj on his birth anniversary. He expressed confidence that Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) is becoming a reality, with the nation steadily advancing towards global leadership.
Highlighting the role of media persons in the country’s freedom movement, Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that media persons have always played a pivotal role in shaping society and continue to guide it with their insightful contributions. He emphasized that, with their constant support, the nation is progressing steadily. Acknowledging the media as the fourth pillar of democracy, he added that the Haryana Government is committed to safeguarding the interests of the media and is taking effective steps in this direction.
Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that the media plays a vital role in ensuring that government welfare schemes reach the common people. He praised the media’s active involvement in not only helping beneficiary’s access these schemes but also in raising awareness within society. Encouraging the media fraternity to uphold ethical journalism, he urged them to highlight the government’s efficient functioning. He assured that the government is fostering a media-friendly environment where media persons can exercise their freedom fearlessly in the interest of society.
The Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs. 21 lakh at the annual convention of the Haryana Union of Working Journalists. He also assured the union that their demands would be considered sympathetically.

Chandigarh, May 30 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini announced a matching grant from the state government to the Gaur Brahmin Vidya Pracharini Sabha in village Pahrawar for the construction of Campus-III educational institutions. He said that the Haryana government will provide a matching grant exceeding the amount collected by the society for these institutions. In addition, one of the state’s major park will be named after Lord Parshuram.
The Chief Minister made these announcements on Friday during a state-level function held in village Pahrawar, district Rohtak, on the occasion of Lord Parshuram’s birth anniversary. On this occasion, he also announced a grant of Rs 51 lakh. He further said that other demands submitted will be forwarded to the relevant departments for feasibility assessment, and efforts will be made to prioritize and fulfill them.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a total of nine projects worth Rs 61.23 crore. This includes laying the foundation stones for five projects valued at Rs 54.26 crore and inaugurating four projects worth Rs 6.97 crore.
Sh Nayab Singh Saini, while paying tribute to Lord Parshuram on his birth anniversary, as well as commemorating the martyrdom day of Sikh Guru Arjan Dev Ji and the birth anniversary of Arut Maharaj, said that all these great personalities dedicated their entire lives to the establishment of religion, social unity, harmony, and culture. Their life journeys continue to inspire us to follow the path of righteousness and serve humanity.
Describing Lord Parshuram as a mighty warrior, a scholar of the Vedas, and a great social reformer, the Chief Minister said that despite being a Brahmin, he took up arms to eradicate injustice and unrighteousness. The life of Lord Parshuram Ji teaches us that only the balance of knowledge and strength can lead society in the right direction. He added that Haryana has always been a land of valor, knowledge, and rich traditions. Lord Parshuram had said that even taking up arms to protect religion is a form of penance.
The Chief Minister further stated that as we progress with the vision of building a developed India and a developed Haryana under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi, the ideals and messages of Lord Parshuram inspire us to stay on the right path. He said that as we advance ambitious campaigns like Developed India, Digital India, and Startup India, we must all contribute to making India a global leader once again by taking a firm pledge inspired by the resolve of Lord Parshuram.

Medical college in Kaithal named after Lord Parshuram
Referring to the various initiatives undertaken by the state government for the welfare and upliftment of the Brahmin community, the Chief Minister said that the medical college in Kaithal has been named after Lord Parshuram to inspire future generations with his teachings and ideals. Additionally, the government has declared a gazetted holiday on the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram. He further said that the longstanding land dispute of the Gaur Brahmin College in Pahrawar village, which had persisted since 2013, has been resolved. The government has also approved 100 BMS seats at the Gaur Brahmin Ayurveda College, and classes have commenced. A postage stamp in the name of Lord Parshuram has been issued, and land has been allotted for a Brahmin Dharamshala in Karnal.
The Chief Minister urged the youth to recognize and awaken the qualities of courage and service inherent in Lord Parshuram within themselves and to contribute actively to the vision of a developed India and a developed Haryana.

Cooperative, Heritage, and Tourism Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma welcomed Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini upon his arrival at the program. He praised the Chief Minister as a well-wisher of farmers, laborers, the poor, and a leader representing 36 communities. Dr. Sharma noted that since Brahmins serve all societies, people from various communities participated in the event. He emphasized that the primary role of Brahmins has been to elevate morality and establish high ideals within the traditions of India, with Lord Shri Parshuram Ji being the finest example of these values. He further added that the prestige of the venue has grown even more with the planned installation of a grand statue of Lord Parshuram Ji in the complex. Also, a Sikh Museum will be established on a 3-acre site in Kurukshetra to honour the legacy of the Gurus and inspire the youth to follow their teachings.
The Chief Minister visited Shri Bohli Sahib Gurdwara in Pehowa to pay homage to Guru Arjan Dev Ji on the occasion of his 419th martyrdom anniversary. Guru Arjan Dev Ji undertook penance at this sacred site. During the visit, Gurdwara head Jathedar Mahendra Singh honoured the Chief Minister with a saropa. Following the ceremony, the Chief Minister joined the congregation in the langar hall and took in prasad of tea.
Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji will continue to inspire generations as a timeless beacon of light in the fight against injustice, exploitation, and oppression. He described Guru Arjan Dev Ji as the illustrious son of the revered Guru Ramdas Ji, and the embodiment of the noble values instilled by his devout mother, Bibi Bhaani Ji. He said that Guru Amardas Ji, impressed by the young Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s sharp intellect, had once predicted that his grandson would become a great compiler of sacred hymns—a prophecy that proved profoundly true.
He said that Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s greatest contribution was his unparalleled martyrdom. Despite enduring brutal torture at the hands of the Mughal rulers, he remained steadfast in his commitment to truth, never compromising his faith or principles. The suffering he endured sitting on a burning iron plate is one of the most profound sacrifices for faith in recorded history. He added that Guru Arjan Dev Ji's legacy is not only a source of pride for the Sikh community but a guiding ideal for the entire nation. “We must preserve and live by the moral and spiritual values inspired by great souls like Guru Arjan Dev Ji,” he said.
The Chief Minister also said that Lohgarh in Bhagwanpur is being developed as a major tourism hub. To support this initiative, the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Trust has been established in Lohgarh. Recognizing the deep faith of the people, the government has launched the Golden Jubilee Guru Darshan Yatra Yojana to provide financial assistance to pilgrims from Haryana visiting prominent Sikh religious sites, including Sri Hazur Sahib, Sri Nankana Sahib, Sri Hemkund Sahib, and Sri Patna Sahib.
The Chief Minister also listened to the grievances of the sangat present at Shri Bohli Sahib Gurdwara and directed the concerned officials to ensure prompt resolution. Responding to verbal complaints from some citizens, the Chief Minister advised them to submit their concerns at the Deputy Commissioner's office, assuring them that appropriate action would be taken. He also instructed Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh to give due attention to public grievances and ensure their timely redressal.

CET 2025: HSS Commission launches helpline service

Application may be rejected for wrong photo or document
Chandigarh, May 30 – Member, Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC), Sh. Bhupender Chauhan said that to assist candidates applying for CET 2025, the commission has launched a special helpline service. He said that candidates can call the mobile number 90634-93990 to get any information related to CET registration.
Sh. Chauhan said that this helpline is meant only for CET candidates. It will help resolve issues, doubts, or technical problems related to the registration process. He encouraged all candidates to use this service and share their feedback to help bring out further improvements.
He further said that the Commission has noticed many candidates are making common but serious mistakes while filling the CET registration form. These errors can lead to rejection of the application. These include, uploading a signature photo in place of a photograph, and vice versa, submitting blurred or side-angle photographs, scanning and uploading the entire A4 sheet with a pasted photo instead of a proper passport-size photo, uploading irrelevant documents like Aadhaar card in the category section.
The Commission has clearly stated that any application with these kinds of errors will be automatically rejected. Therefore, all candidates are advised to be very careful while filling their forms and to follow all instructions properly, he added.
The online application process for CET 2025 for Group-C posts started on May 28, 2025. The last date to submit the application is June 12, 2025, up to 11:59 pm, and the last date to pay the fee is June 14, 2025, until 6:00 pm.

*Haryana to Conduct State-Wide Civil Defence Exercise “Operation Shield” on May 31 to Strengthen Emergency Preparedness – Dr. Sumita Misra*

Chandigarh, May 30 - The Haryana Government is set to conduct a major state-wide Civil Defence exercise, named “Operation Shield,” on May 31, across all 22 districts to enhance the state’s emergency preparedness and response capabilities. Scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM, this comprehensive drill is being organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to simulate critical incidents such as air raids, drone attacks, and other wartime scenarios in the light of current national security concerns. Earlier, this mock drill was scheduled for May 29 but was postponed as per the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
While interacting with media persons here today, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, stated that the exercise aims to test existing emergency mechanisms, improve coordination between the civil administration, defence forces, and local communities and to identify areas that need to be strengthened, thus ensuring swift and effective response during any crisis. She informed that currently there are around 32,000 Civil Defence Volunteers across state who will also contribute in this exercise. All Deputy Commissioners have been directed to call out Civil Defence Volunteers, NSS, NCC, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Home Gaurds, etc. of their respective districts in order to brief them regarding their deployment, duties and exercises to be undertaken.
She further stated that, key components include drills responding to aerial threats such as air raids and swarms of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), activation of air raid sirens, and testing of control room communication hotlines established with the Indian Air Force. Additionally, a controlled blackout of 15 minutes will be observed from 8:00 PM to 8:15 PM near vital installations, with exception of essential emergency services such as hospitals, fire stations, and police stations.
Dr. Misra highlighted that the exercise aligns with the Incident Response System (IRS), which Haryana officially notified on January 28, 2025, under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, providing a structured framework for effective emergency response. She directed all Deputy Commissioners, who are also Chairpersons of District Disaster Management Authorities, along with Commissioners and Superintendents of Police, to ensure meticulous planning and execution of the exercise in their jurisdictions. They have been instructed to submit detailed Action Taken Reports to the Commandant General, Home Guards, and Director, Civil Defence, Haryana, which will be compiled for state-level review and forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The above mock exercises are scheduled for May 31 between 5 PM to 9 PM and should not be the cause of alarm for the citizen.
