MAHENDERGARH, 12.11.25-The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, celebrated Haryana Day with great enthusiasm by organizing the Dohan Food and Cultural Festival–2025 on Wednesday. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, officers, non-teaching staff, and students from various departments of the University.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the festival in the presence of Prof. Sunita Srivastava, First Lady of the University. In his address, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar said that the festival reflected the spirit of “Mini India” within the CUH campus. He appreciated the efforts of students in representing the diverse food cultures of India and highlighted that such initiatives play a vital role in preserving and promoting the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
Organized by the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management in collaboration with the Office of Dean Students’ Welfare, Department of Nutritional Biology, and Department of Biotechnology, the festival featured 14 food stalls representing different Indian states. Visitors enjoyed a variety of regional delicacies such as Bhel Puri from Maharashtra, Litti-Chokha from Bihar, Siddu and Babru from Himachal Pradesh, Porippu Vada from Kerala, Aha Tanka and Rice Bada from Odisha, and traditional dishes from Haryana including Khichdi, Namkeen Lassi, and Jalebi.
The Himachal Pradesh stall, guided by Dr. Anil Kumar, was adjudged First, followed by Haryana stall (guided by Dr. Jitendra) securing Second, and North-East stall (guided by Dr. T. Longkoi) winning Third position.
The event concluded with a vibrant cultural evening, featuring Haryanvi, North-Eastern, and South Indian dance performances, poetry recitation, and classical singing by students, which added colour and diversity to the celebration.
The programme was coordinated by Prof. Renu Yadav, Dean Students’ Welfare, with active support from Dr. Neeraj Karn Singh, Dr. Mulaka Maruti Rajput, Dr. Devendra Singh, and Dr. Kalpana. Prof. Ranbir Singh, Prof. Rupesh Deshmukh, and Prof. Umesh served as conveners, while Dr. Jitendra Kumar was the organizing secretary.
