Chandigarh, March 26: Today, CRAWFED, CREST, Chandigarh Administration and Yuvsatta-NGO organized a ‘RESCO-Solar Power awareness programme and free medical camp for residents welfare association representatives from over 50 Sectors of the city at Government Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh.
Sh. Debendra Dalai, CEO, CREST and Director, Department of Environment, was the chief guest on the occasion. And prominent amongst those who were present on the occasion included Sh. Arul Rajan P., Additional CEO, CREST & Conservator of Forests, Sh. Hitesh Puri, Chairman, CRAWFED, Sh. Umesh Ghai, Nominated councillor of MC, Dr. Anish Garg of CRAWFED and Mr. Pramod Sharma, founder of Yuvsatta-NGO. Over 100 RWA representatives participated in the same.
The programme started with a talk on prostate gland and prostate cancer by Dr.(Prof.) Santosh Kumar dedicated urologist from PGI, Chandigarh, who asked participants to be healthy, by happy and be blessed mantra for good prostate health. He advocated meditation, prayer, regular exercise, healthy food, weekly fasting and must to stay away from Cancer..
S. Sukhwinder Singh, Project Director of CREST, shared about the RESCO Model of Solar Power for consumers with BOT-Build Operate Transfer basis model with representatives of resident’s welfare associations of Chandigarh.
Sh. Debendra Dalai, added that this model has been approved after 3 years of continuous follow up and hearings with JERC- Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission. He further informed that JERC has made sure that the interest of consumers applying under this RESCO model stays intact. Mr. Dalai also advocated people to adopt a lifestyle which is in harmony with man and nature alike. Otherwise these days we humans are the cause of irreversible damage to mother earth.
Mr. Dalai further gave a mantra of eat green, be green, act green for green living and achieve the target of carbon neutral Chandigarh by 2030. He added that anyone can apply for a free rooftop solar power unit in Chandigarh by March 31, which will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. And online forms for the same are available at CREST website.
