Chandigarh, March 25: Braving the early morning rains over 700 runners participated in a six kilometres Marathon run from Sukhna Lake on theme of ‘LiFE-Lifestyle for Environment’ organized by Department of Environment, CPCC-Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee in association with Yuvsatta-NGO to celebrate the forthcoming G20 summit with the theme of 'One Earth, One Family, One Future'.

Shri Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to Administrator, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest on the occasion and prominent amongst those who joined in the endeavour included Shri Anup Gupta, Mayor, MCC, Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, HS cum Secretary Environment & Forests, Shri Debendra Dalai, IFS, CCF cum Director, Department of Environment, Mr.Arulrajan P, IFS, Member Secretary, CPCC, Mr.Sorabh Kumar Arora, PCS, Director, Department of Sports, Chandigarh Administration and Principals from different schools & colleges.

The main attraction of the day was that the Chief Guest Shri Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to Administrator, Chandigarh Administration, also ran for the whole marathon of six kilometres. Appreciating the initiative Sh. Dharam Pal shared that giving the concept of ‘Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE), Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP26 in Glasgow on 1st November 2021, called upon the global community of individuals and institutions to drive LiFE as an international mass movement towards “mindful and deliberate utilisation, instead of mindless and destructive consumption” to protect and preserve the environment.

Thanking all partners, Sh. Debendra Dalai, said that the only way to check climate change challenges is by making amendments to our lifestyle in harmony with nature and well-being of all.

In the end Shri Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to Administrator, presented prize-winners with medals, gift-hampers and certificates.
