CHANDIGARH,27.01.20-In a major breakthrough, Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police under the supervision of Inspector Ranjit Singh, I/C Crime Branch and the close guidance of Sh. Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, DANIPS, DSP Crime succeeded in arresting two snatchers who were involved in the incident of snatching of bag containing mobile phone make Samsung, two ladies suit, one Sucha Moti Mala (garland) and cash Rs.1200/- in case FIR No.24 dated 23.01.2020 u/s 379-A, 356, 411 IPC, PS-39, Chandigarh. The details of accused persons are as under:-

  1. Arvind Rai s/o Tara Chand r/o H.No. 2114, Sector-40/C, Chandigarh, age-35 yrs.

  1. Didar Singh s/o Kirpal Singh r/o H.No. 2091, Sector-40/C, Chandigarh.

The facts of the case as:-

On 26.01.2020, secret information was received that the above said persons who were involved in a recently snatching incident which was took place near residential area Sector-37, Chandigarh are roaming freely near Beat Box, Sector-22/B, Chandigarh on Active vehicle registration No.CH01-BY-1304 for the purpose of selling the mobile phone which was snatched by them. On this secret information, Sub Inspector Gurjiwan Singh, Crime Branch alongwith the officials of Crime Branch laid a naka near Beat Box, Sector-22/B, Chandigarh and apprehended above said two persons, while they were coming from backside, Sector-22/B, Chandigarh and moving towards mobile market, Sector-22/B, Chandigarh by using Activa Scooter having registration No. CH01-BY-1304 for the purpose of selling the mobile phone. During the search of accused, the snatched mobile phone make Samsung, bag, one Sucha Moti Mala (garland) regarding the same, case FIR No.24 dated 23.01.2020 u/s 379-A, 356, 411 IPC, stands registered in PS 39, Chandigarh has been recovered from the possession of apprehended accused persons. The complainant namely Ms. Simrat Kaur has also identified the snatchers.

Today, i.e., 27.01.2020 accused produced before District Court, Sector-43, Chandigarh from where, both the accused have been sent to judicial custody by the Hon’ble Court. The investigation of this case is being carried out.

Second case of bootlegging registered by Crime Branch

On 27.01.2020, Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police, under the supervision of Inspector Ranjit Singh and close guidance of Sh. Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, DANIPS, got a major success in apprehending one accused namely Sukhjinder Singh s/o Baldev Singh r/o Village-Jhuneri, PS-Bhawanigarh, District-Sangrur, Punjab from near Gunny (Bardana) Market in Grain Market, Sector-26, Chandigarh with the possession of 60 boxes of illegal liquor make 555 XXX RUM (total 720 bottles) alongwith white colour vehicle make Cruze car registration No. HR26-BK-4412 which was driven by accused himself.

The facts of case:-

On 27.01.2020, a team of Crime Branch led by ASI Om Parkash, while performing their duties at a naka near Grain Market, Sector-26, Chandigarh in order to prevent and detect crime has succeeded in apprehending a person namely Sukhjinder Singh while he was carried illegal liquor by using Cruze car registration No.HR26-BK-4412. During the search of vehicle, the quantity of illegal liquor found 60 boxes make 555 XXX RUM (total 720 bottles) and in the matter, accused person could not produce any license and permit for carrying the liquor before police officials. Consequently, case FIR No.19 dated 27.01.2020 u/s 61-1-14 Excise Act, has been registered against the accused Sukhjinder Singh in Police Station, Sector-26, Chandigarh.

The investigation of this case is being carried out.
