Chandigarh,11th January 2020, : Chandigarh SangeetNatakAkademi organized a Classical Vocal Recital at BalBhawan, Sector-23, in which city-based eminent musician of Agra Gharana Prof. Harvinder Singh performed. The interesting thing about the program was that Prof. Harvinder Singh’s 85-year-old guru PanditYashpalwas also present in the audience to listen the recital of his diciple.

Prof. Harvinder Singh began the recital with the evening melody Raga GorakhKalyan in which he presented 'Sun Mann Bawre' in the VilambitEkatalaand 'GharAaye More Pran' in DrutTeental. Both these compositions were composed by the Khalifa of Agra Gharana and his mentor UstadYunusHussain Khan. He then sang the melodious Raga Sohini in which he presented a traditional compostion of his gharana ‘MeroManNLiyeJaat’ inRupak and a famous old Punjabi bandish ‘PyaraMaindaNazarNahiAanvada’ in DrutTeental.

Prof. Harvinder Singh with accompanied by UstadAkhtarHasan on Tabla, UstadKamaal Ahmed on Sarangi, Prof. Gurmit Singh on Harmonium, whileArundeep Singh and Sahib Singh were present with him on Tanpura.
