Haryana Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma said that the Higher Education department has successfully designed a unique framework PRaYAAS- ‘Performance Rating Yardstick for Academic Audit Standards’ to improve the overall performance of government colleges of the state.

Chandigarh, August 17- Haryana Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma said that the Higher Education department has successfully designed a unique framework PRaYAAS- ‘Performance Rating Yardstick for Academic Audit Standards’ to improve the overall performance of government colleges of the state.

While giving this information he said that this framework has three component which cover, State or Private Universities, government colleges, aided and self-financing colleges of the state. In the first phase, it had been decided to roll out this framework for the government colleges. Under the 10 components, the scoring of governing colleges would be measured from out of the total 500 marks and later results would be drawn. With this framework, good colleges would emerge as brand and there would also be competitive spirit in colleges. This would also help students in choosing a better college.

He said that this framework has been designed to improve the overall quality of Higher education institutes in the state and enable them towards the path of excellence. The performance of these institutions would be judged by the ratings done through this framework.

He said that under the framework, focus would be on 10 components which included Academic quality, Teaching and learning quality, Research Quality and Impact, Collaboration or Strategic Alliances, Employability, Infrastructure, Inclusivity, Representation and Diversity, Student Engagement or Support Services, Outreach activities and Social Impact and Governance and Management, for which there is weightage of 500 marks.

He said that PRaYAAS would help in identifying gaps and challenges being faced by institutes. This would further assist department in formulating policies to provide recognition and support to leading institutes and improve performance of laggard institutes and to help colleges in getting or improving NAAC accreditation and to participate in various ratings.

He said that Department has hosted this framework on its portal highereduhry.ac.in under PraYAAS Link. This link would be active from August 17 till August 23, 2019. The government colleges could fill up the framework by logging into this link by August 23, 2019. After this, the department would compile the results of all colleges and would declare it in the first week of September.

Haryana Police has arrested two persons involved in looting petrol pumps in district Karnal

Chandigarh, Aug 17– Haryana Police has arrested two persons involved in looting petrol pumps in district Karnal and seized a country made pistol with live cartridge and two motorcycles from their possession.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that arrested accused were identified as Prince, a resident of Beerbadalwa, and Vishal of village Gondar in Karnal.

While Prince was arrested from Taroari on August 15, another accused Vishal nabbed by Police team from Sector 12, Karnal on August 16. Both have fled after looting cash from the staff of petrol pumps located near Namaste Chowk and at Ghraunda in Karnal on July 27 and 28. However, their third aide Pawan is at large. He will be arrested very soon.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Vishal has many snatching cases registered against him in Karnal. In addition, Pawan is a parole jumper, who has been involved in cases of murder, attempt to murder, loot and dacoity. He has already served life imprisonment in a murder case. Police have started investigating the matter to ascertain their link with others involved in criminal activities.
