Chandigarh,07.03.19-In its preparedness towards promoting wellness & medical tourism in the state, the conference was organized on the eve of World Health Day.Smt. Vini Mahajan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion, Govt. of Punjab was the Chief Guest of the event .In the wake of the scarcity of medical infrastructure, advanced treatment and the exorbitant cost of medical services in many countries predominantly gulf countries, India has seen a rapid spurt of medical and wellness tourism. India is on a global map and flourishing with the growth in this sector.
While metro cities remain most sought after for all major treatments like cardiovascular surgeries, kidney transplant, dental surgeries and cosmetic surgeries the states like Kerala, Goa, Uttarakhand is thriving on the growth of wellness tourism. Hopping on the bandwagon and tapping on the trend is Punjab which is in the perfect mode to welcome large influx of expats. This and more was taken up in a series of focussed discourses organized by Dr. Gulshan Sharma .
Industry experts shared the dais and exchanged their experience and views on the growth of wellness & Medical tourism and how Punjab holds immense possibilities to attract expats from a foreign land.

Ways to bring Punjab on the world medical tourism Map, improving infrastructure, finest offerings to tourists from the hospitality sector, preparedness of associated departments in ensuring smooth management for tourist were discussed and possibilities to tap the potential and means to plug in the loopholes were explored. Sessions on capacity building, future growth, skills, and training roadmap was discussed at depth.
