CHANDIGARH,06.02.21-The second day of Yuva Kathak Utsav witnessed a remarkable Kathak dance presentation by young and dazzling Kathak dancer Rudra Shankar Mishra of Banaras Gharana at the M.L. Koser Indoor auditorium, Pracheen Kala Kendra complex, sector-35/B here today. Rules of COVID 19 like entry with mask , proper social distancing and sanitization were followed during the programe.

Programe was also telecasted live from stage on social media platforms of Kendra like Kendra’s official YouTube channel, face book and Insta page for music lovers outside the city.

Born in the traditional family of Kathak, Rudra is talented son and disciple of Guru Mata Prasad , Doyan of Banaras Gharana of Kathak He started his training since childhood from his father and uncle. He has given several performances not only in India but also in abroad. His inimitable style of performing Kathak, his different styles of footwork, chakkars, have always received thunder applause and blessings.

Rudra commenced his recital with invocatory piece Shiva stuti set to Rag Ahir Bhairav with bols “Damru pani Shiv pani “ . Through this presentation he offered prayers to Lord Shiva. After this he moved on to present shudh paramparik nritya (traditional kathak dance of Banaras gharana) set to teen taal with tukde , Tihai , Paran Chakkar, ladi and style of Horse riding etc. Then he doled out with special kathak compositions with 8.75 matra followed by drut teen taal bandish of Banaras studded with paran, premilu and tatkar etc. presented with mesmerizing and graceful movements and fine footwork.

The programme concluded with an electrifying display of crisp Dadra in rag Bhairavi with bolAaya karen jara keh do sawanriya se “ with synchronized dance movements and beautiful expressions amidst a hearty applause from the audience.

He has fine team of accompanists like Uday Shankar Mishra on Tabla, Shakti Mishra on vocal and Rajesh Kumar on Sarangi.
